Frigidaire Pure Source 2 filter problem

When I tried to remove the old Pure Source 2 filter from my Frigidaire, it would not come out. The instructions are simple... just press the release button and the filter should slide out. But when I press the button the filter will not budge. I have tried wedging a screwdriver underneath in the crack between the filter lip and the frige, but it still won't move. Next, I tried removing two screws that are underneath. Now the filter will pull out about a quarter inch, but I'm afraid to force it anymore for fear of breaking something. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, or give me any ideas on how to fix this problem?

I had the same problem, the filter gets sediment buildup in the connectors, you had the correct idea using the screwdriver, that's what I had to do, you have to break the seal that has formed, don't be scared to use a little muscle, pick a place on the side and then gradually increase the force until the seal breaks, and then remove the filter.

Replacement puresource 2 filter will not "snap" into place!

  • stephen griffin Apr 25, 2014

I had the same problem changing the filter, I ended up cleaning the connectors that the filter connects to, again the connectors get sedimant build up, use a q-tip or something like it and wipe the connectors off, apply firm steady pressure, you will feel the snap when the filter seats.

Frigidaire French doors not making enough ice .

Hello friend, thank you for your post!

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator is not producing enough ice. I would advise to check and make sure that your water filter has a secure connection, if need be uninstall and reinstall the water filter to assure connection. Your filter should be changed every six months, if it is has not been changed recently I would recommend exchanging it.

If you continue to receive low ice production it could be an issue with your water line or water valve, I would seek assistance from a professional for proper diagnose and repair of your appliance. I hope this helps. -Matt

WATER FILTER WILL NOT ENGAGE

Hi friend, I appreciate your post!

I see your question is labeled under Frigidaire refrigerator, FGHB2844LF, and you are having difficulty engaging the water filter. Based off that model you should be able to push on the face of the water filter and slide the old cartridge out. First, to install the new cartridge you would need to remove the caps off of it. Secondly, using the alignment guide slide the new filter into the housing until it stops against the snap-in connector. Thirdly, push firmly until you hear the click which indicates that your filter has been engaged. Lastly press a glass against the water dispenser to verify no leaks are present at the filter housing. Hope this helps. -Matt

HOW DO I REPACE D00R SEAL

To replace your seal you'll have to remove the screws around the perimeter of the door's inner panel. Once all the screws are off separate the inner panel from the old seal and peel the seal away. It should peel away easily- if not use a Putty Knife to remove it.

Now take your new seal and "soften" it up a little by placing it in hot water for 10 minutes or so. It'll make it easier to place back in the correct position around the door since the seal was probably all twisted up and sharply folded doing shipping/storage.

Now simply lay it back in the same position the old seal was making sure there are no folds, creases or cuts in the seal. It must lay flat or it will leak all over again. Note: there is a sealant that you may want to get that's specially made for these seals to guaranty the seal gaps are filled and the seal stays in place. I use "Kitchen and Tub" Caulk when I don't have any refrigerator caulk available.

Now reassemble the door inner panel, your new seal, and the outer door all together with the screws you previously removed and you're all done.

Why is icemaker not working

Good Morning Friend,

I understand the ice maker is not working in your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FPHG2399PF. Please follow these steps to resolution:

1)Make sure the ice maker power switch is on. This button is located on the ice maker itself.

2)Make sure there is not a small cube caught in the ice maker itself. If there is, carefully remove it.

3)Check your water filter. Water filters should be changed roughly every 6-8 months. Also make sure your water filter is seated correctly. Try taking out the filter and re-installing it. Listen for 2 clicks and make sure it is flush with the water filter housing.

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully.

    -Best Regards-

Have upright Frigidaire freezer, about 2 yrs old, that quit running. Local repair guy replaced part with "3 n/1 Start" solid state relay overload capacitor combination. Worked great for 2 weeks then...

Good day,
That's a no-no. Your compressor carries a 5 year warranty from the factory. However, if anything is altered on it the warranty is voided. You've got an issue with this guy.

Frigidaire Chest Freezer Model LffC1466DW4. Inside coils are frozen and copper pipes underneath are frozen. I have let set unplugged for 2 days and tried again. Ice forms within a few hours. How do you...

you dont want to add any more freon to it to start with

it either has to much in it or the thermostat is not turning it off and making it run to long, you need to see what temperature you are getting in the freezer and what suction pressure the unit is running on to determine if it is over charged

Frigidaire freezer, only 2 bottom slelfs freeze

If your freezer is six years old the compressor warranty is also over. Sounds as though the system has lost its refrigerant charge. A refrigerant leak in these smaller units is difficult to locate and somewhat expensive to repair. Your choice.
