I do have a work around that I have used on this model for the past3 years. if the sceen goes black. Turn off the tv. Grab the upper left and right hand corners of the tv with your hands. Flex the tv slightly back and forth. then turn it back on. my will usually run for hours after I do this. I do this 4 times a week. I works 100% if the time for me. Sharp lost a customer. good luck.
I may have a work around for you. I also have this model and the same problem. after trying many many sequences of turning on and off with setting changes I came across something that works for me 100% of the time. Turn off the tv. Place your left and right hand on the top corners of the tv. flex gently back and forth. turn tv on. this works for me. I can only say that this tv has some quality control issue(s). it will be my last Sharp product. this was a lowest bidder produced by a company other than Sharp with a Sharp label on it. good luck.
Well, it's hard to say what part needs replacing. It maybe the MAIN UNIT board, LCD CONTROLLER board, or the SIGNAL board. The cheapest way to fix it is have a repair shop tell you which board is bad. Then replace the board yourself. Here's the best place to get parts for it at a decent price: http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=lc-46d62u Just look through this site to get an idea of what parts a going to cost. I know the repairman would charge double for the same part plus labor to install it.
That's the best advice I can give you. The TV is defiantly worth repairing than replacing it.
With no video and the the colored stripes, it sounds like the LVDS cable needs to be reconnected to the LCD control board or the control board itself is bad. If the unit is only 3-4 months old, it should be covered by warranty
i hve the same problem. I turned on my Sharp Aquos lc-32d62u HDTV last night for the first time, but it is black and a blinking green light.
