Clunking noise when engaging clutch in 4wd mitsubishi triton

Have you check the driv aksel on left and right side, if you have a bad drive shaft , you shall hear a noise specily if you turn the steering to full right ore left. And so can you check the drive shaft betwen the aksel and the reduction gearbox.Have you check the oil in the front diff , if the are metall partikel in the oil? if the are mettal partickle in the oil , you must check the diff

well the low cost way to go first would be to try and change the trans fluids. If the problems still remains the it may be an internal problem

Check master for fluid level, check line going to slave unit, check slave unit (any leaks, you have found problem) If master is full, it may be internally bypassing in that case it may not leak but will not put pressure into the line. (fluid goes around piston instead of being pushed) If master is low and no obvious leak found, look under dash where clutch rod goes into the back of the master. you may find fluid there.

Sounds like the clutch throw out bearing got water in to it. This bearig is what the clutch fork actuates. Being a bearing it allows the stationery fork to push against the rotating clutch plate. I expect you'll need to tear down and replace. While your in there I'd replace the clutch too. Give the clutch plate a good looking over.

Possible, but any noise should be investigated fully. Start by checking front diff oil, then transfer case oil. Best to just drain both then look for any metal in oil.
