My lawn mower will not stay started

Lawn mower will only stay running if I keep the primer bulb pressed. As soon as I stop priming the motor starts. I have a new air filter and fresh gas.

You need to check the fuel line for cracks/breaks. Check the fuel filter if it has one. If these two things are o.k., then you will need to clean the carb. It probably has debris in it.

I have a Cub Cadet lawn mower with a, I think, 178 cc motor that has to be primed to start it and I have to keep pushing the primer bulb to keep it running. I think that it's not getting enough fuel....

I believe that your problem is your primer bulb. It is easy to replace, inexpensive, and probably has a small pinhole in it somewhere. You should also check the carburater attaching bolts for tightness. You could be leaking air at this area. I hope this solves your problem.

Maybe the engine is running with the fuel from the primer bulb (about few seconds), the carburator is not working and need to be removed checked and cleaned, the most common fail is a jet clogged.

Lawn mower will not start and run

Sounds like a clogged carb or a cracked primer bulb. I would install a carb rebuild kit and new primer bulb if your mower uses one.

Mower will not stay running unless primer button continuouly pushed. Gas seems to not be independently flowing, requires manual priming to stay running. As soon as primer gas used, will stop running.

The tube in the bottom of the carb. is probably clogged. Remove the carb, and bowl and try spraying WD-40 through the tube, it should spray into the venturi if it doesn't try using a tip cleaner to unclog the tube.
