In System Timers change the System Forward Initiate timer. Be cautious that this is a system wide timer and will affect all users. If you want it done just on one phone it gets a little bit more complicated but it is still possible.

Yes this is definitely a setting that can be changed. It can actually get a lot more complicated than that.

The problem is the Axxess system is programmed using special programming software on a PC that needs to match up with your version of software installed on your phone system. The manuals and the programming software are only available to InterTel dealers. (unless you are very lucky and your original installation company set you up with the program) This is a little trick to ensure someone who is not completely familiar with the system cannot get in and mess things up but it ends up being quite the hassle, especially if (or when) the local installation companies go out of business.

Hopefully you still know what company installed the system and they are still in business. Otherwise, hit your local yellow pages and look for a phone installation company that handles Inter-Tel.

I am going to include a link to the administrator guide for you to download (its in pdf format). However here is what I found in the admin guide:

To change a password:
1. Access the voice mail administrator's mailbox and menu (see page 53).
2. Say "Mailbox Maintenance" or press to access the Mailbox/Group List Maintenance
option.
3. Say or enter the mailbox or extension ID to be accessed. You hear the Personal Options
Menu.
4. Say "Password" or press .
5. If you want a password, enter a new password using digits 0-9 (up to 12 digits) and
press when you are done.Voice mail plays back the password.
If you do not want to use a password, say "Skip" or press . Voice mail announces
that you have chosen not to have a password.
6. Say "Accept" or press to accept the password as entered, or say "Re-enter" or press
to erase and re-enter the password.
7. Hang up or press to return to the previous menu.

If this is not the right section then maybe one of these admin guides will help:

Need more rings

You have to change the rings from the voice mail server. If you don't know your way around the server, its best to get a local NEC tech although it is fairly simple to navigate. Depends on your skill. Typical default password for the server is NEC

Incoming ringtone length

if you have voice mail, you can set the number of rings before forwarding to voice mail in the administrative options of the voice mail menu itself. Call your voicemail and listen for administrative options. Follow the prompts.

Inter-Tel Axxes phone outside calls don't go to voice mail

I had this same challenge with an InterTel 5000 system. Outside calls going right to the receptionist. My solution: You cannot fix this from a phone, you must open the DB Session Manager, move to Call Routing Tables (this is right above Voice Processor) and move all of your extensions above the "NO MATCH" and "EMPTY" lines on the bottom. Anything below those two lines will bypass the extension and go straight to the main attendant. At least in my configuration it does. See below...
bb752dc.jpg By just moving that last extension "5059" above the "NO MATCH" line, calls will now go to the extension from an outside caller. The trick is to hold your mouse on the pen icon and click several times to activate that line, then you can drag it to where you want. See below...

Call will not Transfer to Voice Mail

Typically you want your phone system to ring your phones (say extension 10, 11 and 15) and then if no one answers after so many rings the call is transfered to the port the voice mail is on (let's say it's port 16) The voice mail is set to answer right away but does not "ring" until the call is transfered to it. This way (at 4 rings) if a call comes in on line 1 and you answer after 3 rings but a call comes in on line 2 at the same time, the first ring on line 2 will not make the total = 4 and set off the voice mail. I would guess the port at your voice mail is not set to ring and nothing is set up to transfer calls to your voice mail. Did you set this up yourself? How did you program the phone system?
