Keyboard stops working

My keyboard will abruptly stop working. I have to restart the computer to get it to work again. Sometimes I have this problem intermittently or sometimes its non-stop. I can't find a driver to reinstall it or update it. I have uninstalled it and allowed the computer reinstall it on its own. Nothing is working. What do I do?

You posted lacking the OS installed, XP, VISTA, W7/8/10
why post lacking that KEY FACT,
why make helpers suffer you pain lacking this fact.
gee some PC run Linux, or even freedos in europe, direct from HP new or even OS/2
yah, so I will guess stinking dead, XP. since is sux so bad.
its a virus magnet with over 700 exploits, count those. ugh!

it's either hardware or software, in all cases,
easy no? 2 things. in all cases.
1: so use a USB keyboard, wow that work now?
if yes the internal keyboard is bad.
2: boot to linux USB stick does the keyboard fail now (inside)
then its bad, end saga.
3: lets say the linux works interenal
bingo XP infected, as all are now, all are,
and is not supported by HP or MS

bad internal keyboard.
its bad or key stuck which is bad.
or the cable inside fell off, (happens during bad service in bad shops.)

SOURCE: keyboard on hp dv7-1130us stopped working

This sounds alot like a virus i once had!
try a system restore to the point before these problems occured. if that doesnt work run a full virus scan. If that doesnt fix the problem you may have to wipe the hard drive completly.

go to start, control panel, performance and maintanance, system, hardware, device manager. If you see any question marks on any of the devices, then you need to reinstall the drivers for that device, but if there are no warnings then you may need check into it further.

Some of my keys stop working randomly. usually the t, y, caps lock, and left shift

I would suggest you re-install the keyboard driver as a first move.
Navigate to the keyboard on Device Manager and make sure no problems are highlighted.
If all is OK go to the manufactures support website and download the new software.

Mouse works fine, keyboard stopped working..has fresh batteries in both

Check for a buttom anywhere on the keyboard that says connect. or a reset button. Any button on the keyboard might be the button that you need to press to tell your keyboard to start sending information to your computer again.
If this does not work. Turn off your computer. Restart it. And try the same thing again after restarting your computer.

On my Acer Aspire Laptop 3620, the keyboard abruptly stops working and requires rebooting in order to use the keyboard. Any ideas why this happens and how to correct it? Or at least restart the keyboard...

Could be a loose connection between the keyboard and mother board. Keyboards are not difficult to detach...google for the service manual which will show you how. If a software problem, Go to Device Manager (right click My Computer/PropertiesHardware), Click on the plus sign next to keyboard, right click the keyboard that appear and choose uninstall. Restart system and the drivers will be reloaded when windows restarts.

Mouse stops responding randomly

The issue may not necessarily be with the mouse. Are you able to use the keyboard once the mouse freezes? If you not even able to use the keyboard, there is some application installed on your computer or a virus due to which the mouse freezes. If, in case, the keyboard works even though the mouse is stuck, try changing the USB port or try a different mouse. Please revert back with any other observations. Good Luck
