My D300 Nikon is not recognising recommended memory card

I have replaced the memory card on my D300 Nikon camera after receiving in from the Nikon dealers in Toronto, (having broken the pins) and now I am still having the same problem with error message CHR. I have tried reformatting but this only lasts for about 10seconds before the error message returns.Basically, it is not recognising the memory card even though it is one that was recommended. Please advise what to do. Would be happy for any help. [email protected]

SOURCE: self timer on nikon d300

on the top of the camera, there is a dial which says QUAL, WB and ISO. Look for button and ring just below this. It should say S, CL, CH, Lv, a clock and Mup. Press the button to release the ring and rotate it to the clock icon to activate self timer

I think the factory repair service is the best choice for this type repair. The El Segundo location worked well for me. You may be able to contact them by phone (number on the Nikon web site) and ask about cost, but if you ship the camera to them they will give you a quote before starting work.

Get the battery checked in a nikon customer care. See if the camera works with same nikon battery of the some other person. If not, the problem might lie with the camera. Visit the customer care for repairing it.

My nikon d300 will not format the SD card....

Hi, Dear
Nikon D300 does not use SD card! It use CF card.
But if you have format problem in camera then I recommend format from a computer using memory card reader. And then put the memory card into camera and try to format! Here it does not, then you should show to your local repair shop and it will cost between $120 to $265 usually. In minor problem case it will be replacement of memory card acceptance unit replacement. But the problem come from main pcb then the estimate will be totally different!

I own a NIKON D300 it comes up with R21 if I use the two button reset I get R28 come up has anyone a solution please. David

Is this preventing you from shooting?
Normally the r-number simply indicates how many more shots you can take in the current burst before the buffer fills up and the camera has to slow down to save the pictures to the memory card. It's purely FYI and shouldn't stop you from shooting (until it gets down to r00).

Nikon r47 error

Is this preventing you from shooting? Normally the r-number merely indicates how many additional shots you can take in the current burst before the buffer fills. It's strictly informational, and should not disrupt your shooting (until the number drops to zero and the buffer fills, at which time the camera will slow down while it transfers the pictures from the buffer to the memory card).

Today I removed my Sandisk memory card from my Nikon D300 before going on a photo job to replace it with an empty one but couldn't get the new one to go in-or the one I had just removed. The camera shows...

CHA error message means that the memory card is unusable. You should format the card by inserting it in a card reader or try another card.

Let me know if you need more help,

My d300 has suddeny decided a my memory cards are corrupt. They work fine in a card reader

When you remove the card reader from the computer, you must use the "safely remove hardware" function or your card will be corrupted. Sometimes, if you format the card in the camera, everything returns to normal (download the pictures first).
