For this sort of thing, it's often easier to just delete the files for the program from "C:/Program Files/Sony". Then download CCleaner and use it to delete the "Uninstall Program" entry.

Start/Control panel/ Add/Remove Programs/ Highlight program/
Remove...If there's not an uninstall.exe under the program name.

Go and buy the software. The serial number will be on the box or it will be sent to you via email.

Does it create a track but there is nothing in it? Turn off your anti-virus software when you record, thats how I got mine to work. Kaspersky anti-virus was making it trip offline.
