Best chance of a precise answer to that question is at http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-17/

If i were to guess, I would venture it to be a clogged cat convertor. Great instructions on that forum on how to service one by soaking it in citric acid (vitamin "C'). Works better than replacing with aftermarket unit.

I have an old 028 stihl av super electrical quickstop have rebuilt the carb on it put new gas new spark plug is turning over but not starting please help Dan from NY

due to age , id start by seeing if it has any spark in plug , remove plug wire and insert 1/4 bolt , arrange near by a metal bolt or other item (not handle ) and do not hold bolt near item
turn ign switch on (don't bother with choke) and pull engine over several times , observe 1/4 bolt for blue sparks (dim lights if necessary )
no spark present , trouble shoot ign system farther
spark present - remove and clean plug with good solvent
add a little bit of engine start fluid to plug hole and reinstall plug and wire , attempt to start engine , nothing - compession problem or shorted plug if it sputters but doesn't start then its a carb problem , troubleshoot carb (clean it )

Wont start

pull a spark plug out and crank itover to see if theres compression. Or perform a compession test. If you pull the plug out, and turn it over it should blow air our...strong. If it doesn't, look to the timing belt. If it went from running to not running over night, could be that. check the simple things first. fuel, spark, compression, timing, for starters.

Compress rear brake calipers on 2004 freestar

many fords have "spin in" caliper pistons.

Your local auto parts store sells the tools you need. (Multi sided for different sizes)

You insert the tool and spin the caliper piston back in. (many times, they are hard to start turning but should be easy once you get started)

Make sure the cap is off the brake master cylinder so the brake fluid and rise up as you screw in the pistons.

Hope this solves your problem.

Cyl no#1 misfire, changed plug and wire.. Cyl 2,3,4 run fine.

Do a compession check, might have a burt valve, the compression should be with-in 20% of the of the rest, compression in the cyl.has to be 80 psi or higher to fire that cyl.

I purchased new byke one month before but its not getting start, i tryed kiker also its take more then 10 times

Make sure you have Spark at the sparkplug and that your sparkplug is in good condition with proper gap.
Makle sure fuel is getting to carbs, by loosesing the carb drain screw - fuel should flow out.
if your getting fuel, tighten the drain screw back and turn the motor over.

make sure key switch is on and on/off switch is on.

if motor doesn't start, spray a very little of carb cleaner spray into air filter box.

if motor starts and dies that means that your carbs are getting gas but the jets are clogged and not allowing fuel to go through the carb, pull your carbs off, disassemble, soak, rinse, blow out with compressed air, make sure you can see through the jets, reassemble and your bike will run.

If your getting fuel through carbs and you have good spark, then pull your spark plugs and do a compession test. You must have at least 100 psi compression, if not your rings are bad, or you have a stuck valve.

If no compression:
You can check and adjust your valve clearance, only when the motor is cold.
Do this and then recheck your compression. If compression comes up. Your motor with run.
If still no compression. Then you must take the top end apart and see why.

Have your head inspected to make sure valves are seating.
Check your piston ring end gap.

You will find it to be one or the other to cause your loss of compression. Fix and repair.Reassemble.

a 2 stroke motor with no compression is usually a blown head gasket.

Runs like the devil, but only when I get a chance after "many" pulls on the starter handle, some times she/he just refuses, even after using ample starter fluid. Should I change the plug...

compression ratio is bad. when you try and start the engine it warms up and the machine
gets tighter and the compession goes up then the engine starts ... you ran it on gas without oil and
rings are starting to go out... buy a new one...

Suddenly started smoking white smoke and seems to be losing power

White smoke is coolant being burnt. That with your lose of power would suggest a bad head gasket. A compression test could confirm it. Hope this helps.

Will not start

Homelite leaf blowers that use whats called a half crankshaft system are prone to many problems. Whats a half crank system you ask? If there is a small aluminum plate that attaches to the side of the engine by the gas tank you have one of these. Usually held on with 4 small bolts. I just got rid of a Homelite Vac Attack 2 that had spark and compression but the compression checked low about 75 should be 90 or better. What happened, a head bolt came loose and the engine ran lean causing the fragile rings on the piston to heat up and when that happens they loose their outward spring that seals against the cyclinder walls. A simple compression check using a gauge and not your finger will tell you that. Other causes could be less than normal spark, or maybe the exhaust port under the muffler has carbon build up or the muffler is plugged up also Check all bolts, and nuts to make sure they are tight.

Rough running, erratic spark

Run a compression test on the cylinders. If reading is low on any drop a little engine oil into the pot. If compression rises you have compession ring problems. Remove all plugs before you try this and place leads away from engine.
