How do I replace tension spring?

Hire a professional garage door installer to do the job for you. The spring has enough strength to cause serious injury...

This is one of those jobs that can be easy but requires you swallow any fear and hold on tight and take charge of the spring. It is quite safe if you do it properly but can really hurt you if your are timid or afraid of it.

There should be a metal piece on the end of the spring that has a series of holes around it and a couple large set screws or bolts. I use two steel rods about 2 feet long that can fit into the holes. You use the rods as a lever to hold the tention of the spring. Insert one rod securely into a hole and get a good hold of it. Have a helper unscrew the set screws or bolts holding the spring to the pipe/rod. You will feel it pull on the rod (when the screws are released). Don't let it get away from you. Hold the rod in place. Slowly let the spring pull the rod around about 45-90 degrees and insert your second rod in another hole and repeat the pattern. You must always have one rod firmly in place with a good grip on to it. Never let the spring get away from you. If you let go of the rod it can swing around hard enough to crack your scull or break your arm. It's really a simple simple job if done properly. The force on the rods is not bad and does not require super human strength (just a good firm grip). All totalled it takes about a minute.

Install recoil spring on RYOBI08420

Requires the removal of the engine/starter cover so you can rewind the spring as you will need to get it back in place.

Once you make sure the spring isn't broken or badly bent and installed correctly, you will wind it up until it stops and back off one turn and install your pull rope.

If the spring is damaged then it is best to replace it as it will give problems.

I have a KitchenAid KUDS01FLSS2 and was wondering if it is normal for the door to fall open... what I mean is the door requires to be supported when opening. Otherwise, the door will swing down and almost...

Yes indeed that sounds exactly like the door springs being broken. The springs are fairly easy to replace, what needs to be done to replace the springs is remove the lowest service panel/kick plate and hook the springs on the tub support frame/leg and the other end goes on a notch in the door hinges. The part number for the spring is 8270182 they could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;

Even though only one may be broke its advisable to replace both at the same time.

Good luck,i hope i have been able to help you fix your dishwasher,

Pull cord stuck about half way out

It may have broken the return spring, or just require re tentioning, remove the starter assembly, try winding the spring up by turning the starter pulley, once you feel more tention on the pulley allow it to pull the cord back in, if you cannot get it to tention, remove the centre screw ( be carfull there is a long spring behind here ) and check the condition of the spring, if broken replace, new springs come in a keeper so they are quite easy to install.

My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee driver door will not stay open on it's own keeps drifting close. How do I fix this ?

I am Not EXACtly sure of the Detent Type for your Door But there are 2 Main type if it is what I Beleave it to be there is a Detent Roler and Heavy spring. And in your case sounds as if the SPRING has Broken this Requires Replacment of the SPRING. One Other type is a Self Contained Unit that Mounts In the Dooe and Protrudes to the INSIDE of the Door and Also requires Replacment of this Detent Mechanizm

Broken Brothers SX-4000 electronic typewriters..I need a spring

If what you require really is a spring then you can buy springstock (long pieces of varying strengths of spring) and make one yourself. However, I thought that the carriage on these machines was pulled by a cable on a drum that is driven by a motor.

Kenmore dishwasher how to remove door of main soap dispencer to r

First you need to find out if it really is a spring or is it a rope system. Remove the lower panel and look to the left or right and see if you have a "spring" or is it a "rope". IF you have a rope, you will need to slide the dishwasher out so you can get to the back of whichever side it is broken on and make the loops required.

When I pull out the coil to start my gas blower, it doesnt "recoil" on its own??

The recoil spring is broken, jammed, or has come lose from either end of it's attachment points. This will require disassembly and most likely replacement of the spring.

Good Luck
