No sound when connecting with a fiber optic.

I have an HD cable box & a PS3 both connected to my new samsung LED DLP via HDMI.  the fiber optic out in the samsung is connected to the fiber optic in, on the bose 321gsII.  Bose unit recognizes the fiber optic and reads PCM 2.0 when on the correct soure.  optical cable is activated in the media center.  have tired fiber optic port with all components, same result.  have tried multiple fiber optic cables one of which is brand new (and with the exception of the brand new one have worked with other systems).  what are the bose tech guy and me missing?  i couldnt have gotten two deffective units.

forgot to mention in post above that i had this same problem and returned the unit for a new one.  hence the last sentence, 'i couldnt have gotten two deffective units.'  also this doesnt appear to be a common problem as i have browsed other tech forums looking for someone else who has this problem.

i had the same issue. i messed with the samsung tv's functions and eventually got it working. the issue wasn't with the a/v receiver, it was the tv's settings.

Have lg 55ls5700 tv trying to connect samsung hw-f450

I suspect that the TV you have does not support the ARC function that the sound bar has. What you may have to do is use the Optical In from the sound bar to the TV and you should be good to go. You may have to change the TV's settings to use the Optical In though. So you should end up with the BluRay Player connected to the TV via an HDMI cable, the sound bar connected to the TV via the Optical In using a fiber optic cable. Hope this helps.

http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/audiooutput.html

Adjust the audio output on your playstation and the television depending upon how you're connecting it to the television for picture and sound.

For an hdmi cable between the television and the PS3 only then adjust the audio ouput to hdmi on the PS3.
You do not need to connect anything else between the television and the PS3 besides an hdmi cable.

If you are using the colored plug type component or composite cables then it is av.

If you are connecting with a fiber optic cable to a surround sound system then it is set to optical.

Depending on what television you are using you would also have to change the Playstation to 48khz/96khz

I have skyhd connected to Lght-805sh via optical connection but when i turn sky over from a hd channel to normal channel there is no sound

Hi,

Not sure what you mean by "optical connection" but you need to connect your SkyHD box to your TV using both HDMI and SCART cables. Your Sky HD box will then send the signal via the HDMI cable for the HD channels and the SCART cable for the SD channels.

Hope this helps

Need hook up diagram for Samsung HDTV using HDMI with Cable box and Samsung 5.1 Surround Theater System

you can run a fiber optic cable out of the tv into the surround system if the sytem has a fiber optic input, or your tv should at least have red and white rca cables for audio out, then you just pick any input on the surround sound and any audio from dvd players ect thats hooked up to the tv will be sent through that one input on the surround sound. The only thing you'll have to do is turn the volume up or down on your sound system.

Samsung lcd ln46a550pf3 no sound from hdtv reciever

ok your tv does not come with the very best sound, you have to get a receiver 7.1 or you can use the optical wire , that's if the system you are using has that option.

Sony STR-DA5300ES Audio Problem

I am posting this to try and get everyones audio problem for this receiver fixed. If you only connected the HDMI cable to the 510, you will not get sound. This receiver passes through HDMI only, no processing of audio. You must either connect a fiber optic or digital coax to the 510 for that respective HDMI input from the BD player, the DVD HDMI only accepts digital coax, and the Video2 HDMI only accepts fiber optic. If you BD player does not have digital coax out for audio, you must move the connection to Video2 HDMI and connect fiber optic to the Video2 fiber input. Sony butchered the whole purpose of HDMI with this receiver. Hope this heps you. By the way, it is hardware, no firmware update will correct this.

PS3 HDMI PROBLEM WITH SOUND

Hi,

I am pretty sure you need to have an Optical cable running from Your PS3 to your sound system...if you have one...

So basically you will have a HDMI cable running from your PS3 into your TV, another HDMI cable running from your TV into your sound system, then an optical cable running from the PS3 to the Sound system. I sadly own a HDDVD sound system but the optical cable tells it to accept the Blu Ray content.....
