Im pretty sure the vegitable oil entered through the xbox guide button and now it wont even turn on. i know water does not clean oil very well, plus it has to do with electronics and curcuit boards, but is there any way to go about cleaning or fixing it? i havent even tried to open it yet and it happened a couple months ago.
Water is a definite no no
there is a crc contact cleaner on the market that will not affect electronic parts and will clean oil and grease away

turn on your xbox 360. push the small button to the top of the controller where the headset plugs in and pust the white button by the memory card slot is at the same ti me with the button on the controller. you have to hold it 4 a lil bit. then your controller would b set to your system i had to do the same thing 4 mine

I had the same problem with my new controller. The trick is to hold the connect button on the console for a few seconds and then hold the connect button on the controller. The main part is to hhhhoooolldddd it until the ring lights up.

it sounds like your controller keeps losing sync with the 360.
- turn them both off
- turn on the 360 with the power button on the console
- wait for it to start up, then press the sync button next to the usb flap on front.
- then press the sync button on the controller (by the recharge connection slot)
That should reset it.

have you tried to pair it... the little white button on both the controller and the 360? works just like the wii remote

turn on the console. let it start up all the way. turn on the controller. on the console to the right side of the two memory card slots is a little button. press and hold it til the green lights start flashing around the power button. there is a little button on top of the controller. when the lights around the power button are flashing, press and hold the button on the top of the controller til the lights around the center button start flashing and then it should sync together
