This camera has two mayor problems the tab-latch that holds the batter in place is broke and the film compartment has loose parts and one cartage reel that gets the film is missing. My investment is $30.00 for this camera it came with a nice lens quantaray 55mm on the outer lens says with-28-90mm D I'm requesting advice. My instincts are to buy the same camera online with a 28-200 lens, then use the lens other lens too. This is my first camera in my jounrnalism class my assignment is taking sports action shots.
To repair this camera will be well over $100; my opinion not worth it. You would be better served purchasing another camera of the same type from ebay. An alternative terrific camera is the Pentax K1000, better yet K1000 SE. The SE has a split viewfinder, easy to focus. The K1000 have microprism that are more difficult to focus with especially in lower light; need good eyes. Then there is the Pentax K2, that at the time was their top of the line camera. All three cameras can be purchased for about $100-ish. Most will come with the Pentax 50mm f/2.0 lens.

with electronic cameras, it is the control circuitry. send it for service. your service agent probably will replace the complete pcb as they don't know or wouldn't care to diagnose which minor component went wrong.

You have to replace the whole door. There is one on eBay, but you won't like the price. Find it here: eBay
SOURCE: camera film door will not latch. The door latch
Can it be repaired? It needs a new latch piece. Maybe a new door, if its all one piece.
I do not own one so not sure about that model. Look at the door hinge. If a small lever sticks out of the hinge, it may be easily removed and replaced with a new door. otherwise you need to remove the bottom plate of the camera to replace the door. Be very careful doing so as things could pop out when you open it.
You could also send it in to a repair shop, where they will also clean, lubricate and adjust it before returning.
Is it worth it? Only you can answer that. You might be able to pickup a used one on Ebay, so you have a source of parts.
If you have no reason to keep that particular camera, replace it with a newer Nikon, so you can keep using your flash and lenses.

first make sure the rewind button is not stuck down. open the back door and rotate the advance sprocket back and forth to release the button. if that did not work take the bottom cover off and check the white plastic gear near the take up shaft. if that gear broke it will have to be repaired by a camera repair person.
there are no new parts for this model so get a cost estimate first.

You could call Nikon Film 1-800-645-6687 to get an estimate. However, as kachbibi1 stated it may be best to purchase a used F80; they cost from $70-$90 US.
