SOURCE: I have an Onkyo Amp

hmm there could be just a fault with this amp if it is brand new.. other wise you might have shorten some wires to geather by accident, try taking out all the audio leads accept the power and see what happends..

if the lite doesn't come on then turn the power off and plug one thing in at a time and turn the power on each time you plug something in..

hope it helps good luck

I have a Denon AVR1603, recently I plugged computer in AUX connections at rear (not loud) and it kept tripping out. Eventually it tripped and now the the on/standby light fashes but nothing else happens....

The LED flash indicates that unit goes into protection. Check the power transistors, the 0.22 ohm or 0.47 resistors in the output of the transistors.

Shut up stereo protect mode?

Protect mode is on because something in your speaker wiring is wrong, or you have a broken speaker, or it\'s too late and you already fried one or more of the amp\'s output transistors.

You gotta fix the problem. Not remove the safety guard and carry on with a busted machine.

Look for wires touching between the speaker terminals or on the backs of the speakers. If you done a half-ass job of wiring up then this is the most likely cause.

If you can\'t find bad/frayed wiring, then disconnect all the speakers out the back of the amp. Switch the amp on. Does it trip out? If no, that\'s good. Turn up the volume. Is it still okay? If yes, that\'s good. You haven\'t yet killed the output transistors. If it goes in to protect though, ut oh. It\'s Repair Shop Time.

If the amp is okay, then power off and add one speaker. Power on with the volume down. If it trips either at no volume or when you increase the sound, then you got a bad speaker and you just found it. Repeat the process, adding one speaker at a time. Make sure you put Vol to minimum and power off each time before adding the next speaker.

My a/c unit keeps tripping when i plug it in. i've tried to hit the reset button on the plug but doesnt do anything. i unplug and plug back into outlet and it trips again. what can i do to fix it?

There is nothing you can do to fix it... the compressor is trying to start and cannot so it trips the plug. The plug trips to protect the house circuit from being overloaded and causing a fire.
Getting the compressor replaced is cost prohibitive, it is cheaper to buy a new unit.

PS3 system repair for "yellow light of death"

Once you have cleaned dust off of your console and placed it in an area where it is not obstructed, it's time to try a couple quick fixes:
  • Unplug the console from the wall for half an hour, then plug it back in.
  • Remove the hard drive and replace.
  • Check all wires and connections to the console.

APC ES500 switches off and the red light blinks. The problem started after I changed the the old battery. It had worked flawlessly with the previous battery.

The battery for this unit is an APC# $^ (RBC46)
Also known as a UB-1280 (12 volts 8.0 AH- amp-hour)

Did you add a greater load ... like a small "heater"?
Remove most of the plugs for what is plugged into it and try again.

If you have a "printer" plugged into it, unplug it, from the "protected" side. It belongs on the "surge" side of the APC Battery backup.

Hope this helps!

"Protect" and "Push Power"

Doiuble check your wiresa again for no pinches or shorts, even at the back of the unit. Also try unplugging the unit for 12 to 24 hours. If that does not help, it may be the time to buy a new stereo because that means there is a fault in the output device, unless you kinow someone who can trouble shoot and repair solid state electronics.
