Plays the DVD, but without any sound - Samsung DVD-V3500 DVD Player/VCR

Need to know what you have it connected to, and how it's connected (what type of cables, etc). Without that, it's just guesswork

As sound is there, the DVD plays well without any problem. Check the video connections for any mistake.

mcdevito75 here, It may be the sound track on the DVD itself, try another DVD and see how the sound is. If the sound is OK without any DVD being played you simply have to adjust the sound while playing DVD"s either at the speakers or with the volume control on your key board.

i think u have not installed codecs for your dvd player. it will play normal cd but without codecs it will not play dvd video and sound.

better u install a vlc player for window. it will play anything.

Verify your DVD player and Sound card is listed without errors in device manager. If there are no errors, try to play the dvd with another program such as windows media player just to try and narrow down the possibilities

Install k-lite codec pack ,you are missing codec. Some recommend vlc player.

Are you using an older TV that is interlaced? You probably have the progressive scan button under the VHS. Press it an see what happens.

try connecting it to small external multimedia speakers (usually played with computers) that come with a small jack simmilar to that on earphones. 

if you did not install the wires to the motherboard ( a small set of wires- I think it's 4-pin) it will not play the sound- ( that's if it requires that wire)
you can also uninstall it in device manager, restart and let windows re-install it again because software may have overwritten some important files-

finally the software that plays the dvd may be buggy in that it mutes the sound- check the toggle (it may be on mute on the screen) I always uninstall it and use interactual dvd player that comes with universal dvd's ( like the Bourne moveis next to me right now)

for stand alone software- I prefer Nero as Roxio overwrites everything- Nero is friendly- playing dvd's , burning etc...
