Has my A/C remote died? I replaced batteries and nothing. The unit still works, but not remote.

SOURCE: Remote not working

If you have a digital camera or a video camera you could have a look at the remote to see it it outputs any infrared signal.

Just point the remote at the lens from a foot away and look at the display of the camera while pressing any button on the remote.

You should be able to see the infrared led flickering. When it does flicker there might also be something wrong with the infrared reciever on the tv. If it does not chances are that the remote is really dead.

Make sure there is a clean line of sight from the remote to the tv
and nothing stands in front of where the reciever might be located
on the front panel of the tv. You could even get one of those cheap universal remotes and see if that works.

I have a zenithAKB36157102 REMOTE that I bought for a converter tuner and now after the hurricane, the unit isn't working. batteries are fine and unit is only two months old.

Check for bad batteries on remote. If still nothing, then remote unit has gone bad or the receiver section in converter tuner is bogus. Either one or the other.

Just bought Topfield TRF2100, screen on and says"installation", but remote won't work.

Be sure there are fresh batteries in the remote. Be sure they are installed correctly and that there is nothing covering the remote's battery contacts. Look to see if there is a film covering the remote's infrared lens or the receiving unit's eye. Check your manual to see if you need to program the remote to the unit. if it's a multi-unit remote, be sure that you have set it to control the specific unit you're working with.

Remote not working, why

Sometimes they just stop working, idk why, sometimes the battery dies. Try this: lock the doors with the switch in the car - turn the from off to on without starting the car eight times ending in the on position - the locks should unlock then lock themselves - then press unlock on the remote - the lock should unlock - turn the key to off and remove then try the remote again. If nothing happened, replace the battery and try to program again. if that doesn't work, get a new remote.

My remote suddenly does nothing

This may sound stupid but have you replaced the batteries in the remote? In either case if the remote is a universal remote (has different buttons usually across the top to select different devices) then the manual should give codes to reprogram it. If you cannot get it working with new batteries and reprogramming then the remote might have gone bad. If the remote does appear to be bad then I would just buy a new universal remote and program it for your equipment since they are not very expensive.
