Error code and no auto focus
What message? if an FEE, perhaps you forgot to put the Diafragm marking to the greatest figure (22 or so) and forgot to put the lock on.
Next time, I think it could be very helpful you tell what error you see. Nobody needs to guess what you see.
Testimonial: "Error message and no auto focus. Error message is r09. The camera is new to me, bought from me brother a year ago, not sure what the Diafragm is so you'll have to excuse my lack of camera knowledge. I used it in the fall for football season and I started to be the error message around Christmas. Thanks for the help."
Your first post, said you were having the error on a Nikon D80, but I can't find any error starting with a r, so I have to assume you are using a Canon camera. And still I can't find a camera from them that could generate a r09.
Most of the time when a camera generates a code with a number, you should contact a service centre of the camera brand and tell them what error you have. The only thing you can do is remove the battery, and after a few moments, reinsert the battery. This will restart the camera from scratch. Hoping the error does not come back. Be aware that from most digital cameras you still can find the manuals online, so you could try to look yourself what can be wrong. When you start with the hobby, always try to put the camera in automatic. The green camera logo on the main dial.
When the error is on a Canon camera, it means the camera could not complete a integrity check of the camera within a certain time limit. Could be you pressed to many buttons at the same time, causing a system overload. Or just a real error. Switching of and on should solve the problem. If the error keeps coming back, service centre.
