The far right and left ends of the spacebar do not work. In order to use the spacebar function, the direct middle of the button has to be pushed down.

You need to reposition (clip) the torssion bar under the spacebar key (a steel wire formed in a wide U shape), it is unhooked, call for a professionnal if you'r not sure how to do this as you may brake the plastic hinge if you don't know what you'r dooing...

Myspacebarisnotworking

Greetings,

You may have some small item underneath the spacebar. The spacebar will "pop up" if you use a screwdriver or something to pry it up from the keyboard. Insert it near the B on the top side of the spacebar and pry up towards you. Clean out from underneath and reattach it.

I broke my spacebar off my laptop gateway computer! How do i fix this?

Of all the keys on the keyboard, replacing the SPACEBAR is probably the most difficult. The SPACEBAR is kept even by a metal wire that is inserted into slots on each leg of the plastic bar key. However, you have to get the wire into the slots without depressing the wire. If you push the wire down, you compress the wire and installation becomes impossible. As a general rule, do not remove the SPACEBAR unless absolutely necessary. If you remove the SPACEBAR, remove several surrounding key caps also. This will let you get some tools under the SPACEBAR wire later on. Once the SPACEBAR is reinserted, you can easily replace any of the other key caps.

The insert key does not allow me to type over an existing sentence. Does HP have this functionality?

I was having the same problem on a new HP keyboard. I found a solution for my issue in the WORD 2010 help menu:
"To change the overtype settings so that you can access overtype mode by pressing INSERT, do the following:
  1. Press ALT+F, T to open Word Options.
  2. Press A to select ADVANCED, and then press TAB.
  3. Press ALT+O to move to the Use the Insert key to control overtype mode check box.
  4. Press SPACEBAR to select the check box, and then press ENTER.
To turn Overtype mode on or off, press INSERT."

How do I reseat the space bar on the mx 3200 . the logitech keyboard accummulates cat hair behind the keys, easily removed. But the space bar has a spring and white gunk and does not reseat easily. Mine...

Use a credit card or plastic Id, insert it and bend it gently. If it fails, you can use 2 cards, one on each side of the spacebar.

If after all you are unable to remove the spacebar, try removing the keys around it, just remember their distribution.

Beware, the spacebar is a little more complicated to put back in place compared to the other keys, as you said, there is a spring.

Can't/use/my/spacebar/ don/'t/have/recovery/cds/for/satellite/135/using/vista

Hi,
I'm afraid that your recovery CD's won't help you get the space bar working.
There could well be dust, biscuit crumbs, hairs etc that's preventing the spacebar from working, turn the laptop off but don't close the lid, stand the laptop on it's side and get yourself a clean, dry paintbrush.
Start to brush the keys and gently tap the keyboard with the other end of the brush to knock out any foreign objects that could be trapped under the spacebar.
Once your happy it's clean turn the laptop on and see if the spacebar works.
If you still have the same symptoms then the keyboard will have to be replaced.
You can use the on-screen keyboard to substitute for the spacebar for the time being.

Good luck.
