I have downloaded avast free antivirus but it denied to run or install.i have no any antivirus in my PC now.

Which Microsoft operating system are you using - XP - Vista - / or ????
Here is the link to Avast where you can find/download the free version:
http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html?part=dl-85737&subj=dl&tag=button

I am running Microsoft XP servicepack 3 and it is running without problems at all.

You tell that it denied to install ! Please indicate what message you get while installing - eventually a failure description given by the operating system

Download older version of Avira Antivir

Why xp SP1??.

If you dont update your OS, even with the best Antivirus you will be in big trouble with security breaches/holes.

IF your copy of windows will not pass the WGA then you are out of luck with Avira . Avira needs SP2 so you could try AVAST, its min requirements are.
Processor Pentium 3, 128 MB RAM, 100 MB of free hard disk space
Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64 bit)

I have notebook Compaq 6715b with Windows XP (no SP2). Sound doesnt work. drivers from HP official site not working

Hello,

trust me, the fault is from the win xp SP2. I am saying this with confidence and out of experience. Except if the audio drivers you downloaded is for win vista.

While running the Win xp, some files make have skipped/not installed which is making the sound not to work. Or maybe you have initially installed a wrong audio driver.

To solve this problem. you have to re-run the win xp, if possible, use another xp Cd, maybe not Sp2.

After installation, let the audio driver be the fist thing you install.

Take care.

PC shuts down without warning and then re-boots automatically about every 20 minutes or so .

you have an internal error in system files. technicaly the only solution is to restore win xp using cd provide by manufacturer and install a good antivirus, (i will recommend avast home edition works great and free)

I am using windows sp2 os.i am not able to install avast antiviru

If the antivirus is not genuine but one thats downloaded from the net, then most probably it itself caries a virus with it hence your PC is rejecting it. Try to install a genuine antivirus and see the behaviour of the PC......sodeep

Uninstall WIN XP PRO UPGRADE

Unfortunately you cannot "Uninstall an Upgrade" - Do you refer "Upgrade to SP2/ SP3 or WIN98 or WIN2000 to WIN XP? Please clarify? Regardless - you will have to reformat your PC and purchase a new license key as you have used the one on another PC or you should void the license on that PC and use it on the original PC.
In short unless you do not use the license key or purchase a new one, your PC will not log-in after 30 days and you will then have to activate again using telephonic assitance (if you modem and internet connection were no configured before the end of you activation period. There is now Un-install function. Sorry.
