I am experiencing issues like this although with a VCR connected with analog video. I added a BluRay DVD player and all of a sudden I lost my video upconversion from my VCR. I am going to try to reset the receiver to see if this fixes the problem. If not, I don't think it is the receiver issue, I think it may be the fact that enorder for video to pass through HDMI, allot of criteria needs to be met. Certain Handshakes need to happen, especially with the HDCP issues. Most likely I will connect a separate video cable to my Plasma and use a secondary input on the Plasma for the VCR signal. You may want to purchase the Component Video adapter for the wii system as this will provide you with at least 480p and your receiver should not have an issue passing the signal over the HDMI output. Good luck and give me an update.

I am trying to connect a wii to an onkyo tx-sr304...i have a directv satellite box and a DVD player connected to the component Video 1 and DVD connections and using to connect component out to TV...trying...

The pecking order for output video to your monitor forbids a lower quality video (composite (Yellow) being up-ticked to anything higher (your component out) (Page23).

The wii would be visible on the Monitor Out composite output (Page 24) to the TV.

Hi, I am having trouble connecting my Nintendo Wii to my Onkyo TX-SR507

Take the adapter cable from the Wii that plugs into the back of the Wii and converts the output(audio/video) into RCA style pin plugs, you will have: RED=right channel audio, plug it into any of the red audio INPUT on your Onkyo, then you will have WHITE=left channel audio, plug it into the other white INPUT jack next to the red plug on the Onkyo, then you will have YELLOW= video(picture) that will go directly to the yellow video INPUT on the back or side INPUTS of your TV.
Then when you want to play the Wii, set the input mode on the Onkyo to the inputs that you connected the red and white plugs into, then change the input on your TV to which ever the input is labeled on your TV in which you plugged the yellow plug into, you now will have sound comming from your Onkyo and the Wii up on the TV screen ready to play. Good luck!

Hooking up Wii with monster cable kit to Onkyo SR875 and Mits 73" HD TV. I cannot get sound through receiver. What am I doing wrong? I can hear the sound through the WiiMote, but no sound through my...

If the Monster cable kit is in fact compatible with the Wii, continue with the following instructions. Otherwise use the Wii connectors.

This is only one connection method for your equipment but the easiest and requires the use of only one additional cable.

Connect the audio and video cables from the Wii directly to your television. Then connect an audio cable from the "variable audio out" or "audio out" from the television to the audio input of your choice on the receiver. Then select that input on the receiver. Then select the input on your TV that you plugged the Wii into. Enjoy.

How do you hook up the wii to the HItachi UT 42 x 902?

Problem: Hooking up Hitachi UT42X902 to a Wii
Solution: Even few technicans understand the issue because they have a hard time comprehending the Hitachi UT42X902 Director Series only has 1 HDMI jack and no RCA connections. I have both a Wii and UT42X902. At one point when I had a 4-way call with Hitachi, Nintendo, and Onkyo trying to figure this all out. So after several miss-steps, here is what I did and it worked…

I ended up buying an Onkyo TX-SR606 AV Receiver Amplifier-Tuner which has "uplink" capability. (Do not buy the TX-SR506 or other Onkyo models they do not have the right uplink capability to work the Wii on the UT42X902 Director Series, I already made that mistake and the store would not take the 506 back by the time I got everything I needed to connect the system.) I then bought a off Nintendo market Red/White/Blue/Green/Yellow HD or HDMI compatible (for the Onkyo side) on one end and Wii compatible on the other (sorry I don’t remember the technical name for the cable but they are pretty common and Best Buy and other electronics stores have it). I connected the cable to my Wii and the 5 ended side of the cable to the Onkyo. My CATV satellite box and DVD player are also connected to the Onkyo with Monster 1000HD (10.5 Mbps) HDMI cables. The Onkyo is connected to the Hitachi UT42X902 also via a Monster 1000HD (10.5 Mbps) HDMI cable. The Wii works perfectly with this setup. You may have to go into some menus to set up the sound (I do not have external speakers yet). Good luck. I usually am not on this site but will try to monitor this site every few days for the next few weeks so post is you have questions, and I will try to help.
