Where do I add transmission fluid for 2006 mercury sable with over 175k mile only driving in city traffic Houston work and home.

You add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube. If memory serves me right and that is the 3.0 L motor, tube is on the left side at the firewall. Dipstick should have a "yellow" grip on it. Check the fluid level prior to adding fluid for adding too much fluid can do damage to transmission. You check fluid with engine running. Fluid should be within the "crosshatch" markings on the stick for proper level. You will need a long transmission funnel in order to get it in the small hole for that is the only one for adding fluid :o) Hope this gives you a helping hand in the task. Transmission is shift really hard

Check the color of the transmission fluid, dark colored is bad. Overheating could cause the transmission fluid to go bad. Most transmission fluids are red and semi transparent. If the fluid is bad change the fluid, this can fix hard shifts and shudder.

Add fluid transmission

TRANSMISSION FLUID

Checking automatic transmission fluid

The 5R55N transmission does not have a transmission fluid dipstick.

Refer to your scheduled maintenance guide for scheduled intervals for

fluid checks and changes. Your transmission does not consume fluid.

However, the fluid level should be checked if the transmission is not

working properly, i.e., if the transmission slips or shifts slowly or if you

notice some sign of fluid leakage.

Transmission fluid should be checked and, if required, fluid
should be added by a qualified technician.

Adding transmission fluid

Add transmission fluid to the same tube you check the transmission fluid level. It will resemble the oil dipstick tube, only it's a larger tube that will accommodate a funnel to add additional fluid. It's important not to overfill the recommended level so try adding 1/2 quart at a time until the level is withing the markings on the transmission fluid dipstick.

My car Isn jerking and actn like its stuck in neutral when I try to give it some gas the transmission fluid is very low so I'm wondering when I put some in. There would it stop the the problem or is...

You are certainly risking a bigger problem if you don't top up the fluid!

When the torque converter spins, the fluid is compressed and acts like a semi solid, and transferring the power from the engine to the gearbox. No fluid - No power transfer to the gearbox.

Top up your fluid. You will never know if there is a bigger problem until you do.

Hyundai transmission fluid

I don't know which fluid, probably dexron II. The autoparts store will have that knowledge in their books. As far as adding, no, engine off. Engine on to check fluid. Does your tranmission leak? Otherwise it should never need more fluid.

Do yourself a favour, and do not persue that kit. It is a sham.

There are no 'kits' that takes a manual transaxle to a semi-auto. You could investigate adding buttons to the steering wheel for up/downshifts, but you would need an automatic transaxle.
