Never ever post phones or email online, wow, that was a big mistake, doing that. and i tried to delete it and cant.. for you.... DO SO NOW YOUR SELF, or bad happens, from this....
BTW this is NOT HP, sorry, its just a silly chat room generic.

desktop or laptop????
wow.
who's CD???????? made by WHOM?
what computer (service tag full name) like CQ52-1234us..
what OS? windows WHAT? pray not XP.... it's a virus magnet.

we can not guess, what is wrong, what you own or what CDs you have in your hands ,ever , it must be said (or photos?)

error one, is deleting software HP put there.
you will FAIL, ( can but know which easy pieces does and its importance)
do you now that some software relies on other software.?
"dependencies" like removing a foundation in your home.

NO PC stated. ZERO POSSIBLE HELP!!!

iS PC over 10 years old, they go back to 1984, why must I guess.
>=10year old answers. (i can tell you with model number)

if your PC is HP, the F10 or F11 key works
the magic recovery HP hot key, you press that at, power on.
then it goes to RECOVERY MODE>
fix startups files, or do a full restore.
this will fail of the HDD is bad, or someone used NON HP CD's
to install the OS before.
if that is true, is it?>
then we use the REAL HP disks , from HP, not disks YOU MADE ON A BURNER.

most old COMPAQs had no F10./F11 key. they didnt have that magic, then. some are 15 years old.

IF you get it to work, stop deleting files, now.
please.......................................!

the REFORMAT can kill dead the F10/F11 restore partitions
so.... im betting it did.

post what PC is is first and we can go step by ittybitty step.
no problemo,

SOURCE: Notebook will not boot

If I understand what your problem is...
I had the same problem, it was a caused by bad Windows XP install CD.
Call Gateway and explain the situation, you may need to have a magnifying glass handy to read the tiny engraved lettering in the center of the CD disk.
Have your 'Product Key' available.
If you have some kind of sales receipt, or other "Proof of Purchase" have it handy too.
You will need to tell them, you do not have the program installed on other computers.
They can send you another disk.
This method will only work if you have a legal copy of the program.

Instead of doing an automated recovery, try system restore. This helps when automated recovery cannot find a solution

My compaq presario recovery cd ask for A:>>what is

Desktop or Laptop ????....
Unfortunately, it is likely that your computer will encounter some form of system error, malware function or hard-drive crash that causes the operating system to become unstable.
To help computer users resolve these issues, HP includes the HP Recovery Manager in each Compaq Presario.
Use the Recovery Manager to recover your system without the need for any additional software CDs, technical support or repair service.
The recovery process should only be used as a last step in troubleshooting your computer, as all personal data files will be erased during the recovery.

Close any programs running on your computer and remove any unnecessary hardware devices that are connected to the computer.
Restart the computer. Press the "F11" key once your computer begins to start up again and before the Windows logo appears.
The HP Recovery Manager will automatically launch.
Click the "System Recovery" option and click "Next." Select "No" in the Microsoft restore window that opens and click "Next."
Select the "Backup Your Files First" option and connect an external hard drive or insert a blank DVD or CD to store the backup files.
Follow the instructions in the wizard to select the files you want to save.
Click "Next" to begin the restore process.
The Recovery Manager will reformat the hard drives and recover the system to a functional operating condition.

I have a laptop HP Compaq 6720s and now I get the following code t.w. 0x4001001300001002 and when I will restarted the computer the message boot.mgr missing. What must I do?

That error means that the Boot Manager is Missing. This is usualy caused by either a failed hard drive, or a failed attempt at recovery. If you try to do a recovery and then suddenly halt the process, weather on purpose or due to somthing like power failure, then the first bit of the Recovery boot process, the BTMNGR, can be hosed. If this happens then your only option is to order recovery disks from the manufacturer and install the OS that way.

You might boot into bios (F10 on startup) and do a hard drive self test first to make sure you dont have a hard drive problem...

The COMPAQ splash screen displays, with F1-Setup and F10 system recovery option, but then displays 'DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER'. This is my sisters computer, and she says there...

You may be able to purchase a system disk from Compaq, otherwise, try any generic XP disk. It won't have any Compaq drivers, but at least you can reformat the C: drive and get XP on it.

Reformat

(A) Try interrupting the boot sequence and telling the computer to boot using the last known good configuration. Here's how: 1) Turn the computer on, and press F8 repeatedly until the boot options menu appears (the menu items include "Start Windows Normally," "Use Last Known Good Configuration," etc.). Use the arrow keys to select "Last Known Good Configuration" and press ENTER. The computer should boot correctly.

if it dont this is the procedure given below to format the whole operating sys 1) Put the CD in the CD drive and turn the computer on. 2) As the computer begins to turn on, you should see the message "Press __ to enter setup" (it's usually F1, F2, or F4 - models vary). Press that key.
3) You should then see the Setup screen for the BIOS ("Built-In Operating System") - using the arrows, find the "boot disk priority" settings and select your CD Drive as the first priority.
4) Exit setup, saving changes (usually by pressing F10). The computer should then boot normally using the CD.
