I have transferred my Ulead 4 CD & DVD Pictureshow software and data from a computer using Windows XP to a new computer using Windows 7 Home premium. When I try to log into ULead I get an error message that indicates that the resolution of my computer is not high enough (not the case). How can I continue to use Ulead 4?

If you copied configuration / settings files over from the other PC, the software may still be trying to adjust for the old system. I don't know how you transferred it, but if you haven't yet, try to uninstall / remove the program, shutdown, reboot, then install again from retail install disks, if u have.
If you copied the entire folder directly from Programs\Ulead, then it's possible and likely that hidden setup files or settings are missing on the target computer. These settings are usually written to the computer Registry, a huge database of settings of almost everything regarding your software and hardware.
Hope this helps you.

You can install and run a Ulead software for Windows XP on Windows Vista by running
the Program Compatibility Wizard. We do not guarantee full stability for Windows Vista though.
To run Program Compatibility Wizard:

1. Open the "Program Compatibility Wizard" by
clicking the [Start] button, clicking [Control Panel], clicking [Programs],
and then clicking "Use an older program with this version of Windows".

2. Click [Next] when the "Program Compatibility Wizard" dialog box comes up.
3. Select "I want to use the program in the CD-ROM drive" and click [Next].
If the installer is not detected from the CD-ROM drive, please manually browse for the installer executable.
4. Under "Select a compatibility mode for the program" step, please click on "Microsoft Windows XP (SP2)" and click [Next].
5. For the display settings, please click on "Disable Visual Themes" and "Disable desktop composition" then click [Next].
6. Click on "Run this program as an administrator" and click [Next].
7. Click [Next] to start testing the compatibility settings.
This will launch the installer so if you have your firewall enabled, it will prompt for a permission request.
Please grant permission for the setup to continue. 8. The setup will now run.
You can allow it to finish or switch back to the "Program Compatibility Wizard" dialog box.
9. It will ask you if the program ran correctly. Click "Yes..." if no other pop-ups appear.
* Try another compatibility setting if it reports a problem with the display. For the display settings,
enable the option "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" as well.
10. For this next step click "Yes" to send the info to Microsoft and finish the process.
* Now that you have the software installed, you will also have to run the "Program Compatibility Wizard"
for the application to run correctly. Use the same procedure except for step [3],
select "I want to choose from a list of programs". Follow the same procedure for the other steps until you finish the setup.

Migrating XP to Windows 7 (Using your Network)

If you are thinking of buying a new PC and trying to replace an old XP system to a new Windows 7, you might want to transfer your old favorite files to your new computer. Either transferring through a Easy Transfer cable, Network, or via USB

This procedures assumes that your old XP is still working and connected to your home or office network. and your new Win 7 is also connected as well to your networkBoth of your system and computer must be connected to the same network, either in the office or home, because it is easier to transfer files in this way, effectively and efficiently, this is practical than using USB flash drive or any external disk, though the process is similar.

Ensure that you have the Win7 InstallationDVD, or the Easy Transfer Software fromMicrosoft website, ready to be installed on your XP system. but be aware this is for 64 bit version system only, please visit Microsoft website search and download Windows easy Transfer and select "x86" in the file name for 32 bit or 64 bit, install this the same way you've done with ordinary software. In your Win 7 however, this software is automatically installed so do not bother yourself.

In this instance you will be asked if whether you want to transfer your whole data from all user accounts or to just specific user only, in this process you can also select specific files to transfer, but in order to transfer all accounts, both of your XP and WIN 7 must be logged as an Administrator.

So this procedure is Migrating through NETWORK, the other two procedure is Easy Cable Transfer and USB, external Hard disk.

5e79a5b.jpg
1- Prepare both systems and ensure both are connected to the network and working, Start the XP computer and log in as an Admin
2- IN XP , Open up the and start the Windows Easy Transfer DVD, and look or browse for SupportMigwiz. if you have downloaded this simply select Start> All Program> Windows Easy Transfer for Win 7, it will load automatically. Simply read the screen for additional info and click Next
3- A new screen pops out and please select a Network as an option to transfer
4- Click This is my OLD COMPUTER, Still in XP Windows Easy Transfer will then generate a password for the transferring process, because in order to transfer files through the network you will be required to enter a password (record the KEY)

caae297.jpg

After you enter the key, at this time Windows Easy Transfer makes the connection and scans the Windows XP system's contents and components. Once this is over, you can practically choose which data you want to transfer, or you want to import, just like customizing the items you wish to transfer. After you have decided which is which, click Transfer, then a progress bar will appears the process occurs.

The final screen will then show up indicating the process is complete. Confirm to see if the file you have chosen was actually transferred, then close all window, including the Easy Transfer Windows.

Restart your computer, please. Congratulations!

Both Windows XP and Windows 7 have a "Settings and File Transfer Wizard". Run the wizard on the "old" computer, and say that you are running it on the old computer, and it will save all your files.
Transport the files to your new computer (DVD-writer or USB memory-stick) and run the wizard, and say that you are running it on the new computer, and "import" your files & settings.
