Jvc GR-D250 my camcorder is showing unit in safeguard mode and then remove and reattach battery. i have done this with no change. the tape part will open but does not eject also.
JVC wants more money to fix than the camera is worth. I purchased a Head cleaner, but no luck. Anyone have a solution?I have the same problem on my JVC GR-DX97U.

I solved the problem! Open the video cassette door. Look closely at the gear mechanism and see if there is any small debris in the gears. If not, using a magnifying glass and a paper clip(must stretch it out and use the tip) gently move each gear(gently). I had my unit ON. Once I moved the gear it became unstuck and ejected Mini DV cassette. I then re-inserted the cassette and it worked. The dreaded SAFEGAURD MODE message was gone and it is as good as new.
Do you happen to try with another tape? if so, it needs repair, mostlikely the capstan motor need to change and it needs hinger skill to do this, since you have to adjust it after replacing.
