Cheap way without a tool, is disconnect the battery. hold horn down until all power is gone from capacitors (should be any juice really). Wait 15 minutes. reconnect battery. As long as the problem that threw the code was fixed, the check engine lights should stay off. Now for the disclaimer:

• Erasing codes by disconnecting your vehicle's battery can also blow out the memory for your radio and other on-board components. This method is recommended as a last resort.

on that model the trans computer is built into the engine computer there scan tool will not get into that part the code they are reading is just a code stating there is a trans code what problem are you having?

you need obd2 scanner to do this or obd interface for PC. on some cars you can try to remove negative battery cable for 15 minutes. if you have radio code you need to save it before removing cable.

You need to have the error code read from the on-board computer. Mose parts stores will do this for free and tell you the reason for the error.

you need to contact all the GM dealers in your area and see if any of them have the ability to do off board programming. (That is where they have equipment that will connect to your computer and program it. It may have to be a Saturn dealer. I wish I could be of more help.

a professional chilton or motor manual would have the code translations. some code readers will translate codes automatically.

This could be caused by any number of issues, but you can easily find some clues by having a mechanic hook your car up to a OBD II (on board diagnostics ver. 2) scanner. This will display a 4digit code that relates to whatever the car's computer thinks is wrong. If you live near any shopping centers, you can get this done for free at any Auto Zone car parts store. The scanner is a small hand held device that plugs in somewhere under the dash board inside most cars. It will only take about 5 minutes, and they can print out the codes inside the store for you to take with you.
