Air compressor belt

The red cap on the left or in the middle above the sight glass on the front side of the pump

H68 or SAE30

Turn off the circuit breaker and open compressor inside find motor belt then make loose to easy remove . then replace it carefully

shouldn't have one... if you mean the timing belt inside... lol you don't wanna know

It sounds to me that your belt or tensioner is worn, if the noise goes away when the ac is off then it is just the belt slipping, it takes a lot of power to run the compressor and if the belt is worn it most likely slipping on the pully when you engage the clutch.

Hi Lets, If you look carefully at the same adjusting rod you should see a locking bolt at right angle to it on the bracket. Loosen that first and I believe the adjustment will work. Regards John

No, you don't have to remove the crankshaft with the large wheel. Just make sure the compressor is unplugged and you use only hand pressure on the crankshaft to turn it while you work the belt into place. If you try to put the belt partially on and turn on the motor you'll damage your new belt. Make sure it's centered on the motor pulley before powering it up.

if the ac compressor won't turn even with the engine off,it's not the compressor but the freewheel bearing inside the pulley,
even if the compressor is bad ,changing the bearing will allow the serp belt to turn the pulley.
I'd just change the bearing .

I would suggest that you have the A/C pump replaced. In the mean time you can remove the A/C belt, even if it's the entire serpentine belt and replace it with a shorter one to eliminate the A/C Compressor. If you go to your local parts store and ask for a belt for that model car they will ask if it has air conditioning or not, tell them that it does but you want the belt for the non air conditioned model and a mounting diagram. This will leave you with no air but in a short while the compressor is going to burn that belt off anyway.

Your Craftsman model 919.165200, 5hp, 20 gallon compressor was designed to run on 115~120v 15amp. I believe that it was made by Campbell Hausfeld and is of the oilless single cylinder type. If however your compressor is oil lubed and has a motor /drive belt configuration it may be able to convert if there is a spec plate on the motor with alternate wiring diagram. Many high-end compressors like Rol Air, Jenny, Dewalt, etc with motor/belt drive have a switch selectable voltage, however one must still change the power cord when using 220v.
