Compressor fails to restart

The compressor outside the house fails to restart after the ac reaches the set temp. Initially it works well but after it stops (when it reached the set temp) it fails to restart only the fan inside the house keeps working. I need to turn off the ac wait a few minutes and then turn on the ac again for the compressor to start again. Brivis central unit about 5 yr old

Until now this unit has never had the compressor run without the fan. Is the compressor running without the fan a problem? If so, what can I do to correct it?

Possibly a tstat issue. Run system until satisfied, once satisfied indoor fan shuts down compressor still runs remove tstat face plate and see if compressor shuts down. Another issue could be a sticking contactor for compressor. With a meter you could check at the contactor to see if you lose your 24volts for cooling but contactor remains pulled in.

My unit blows out cool air for maybe 3mins. Then warm air

Normal ACs (non inverter) work in the following way
  • The AC compressor runs continuously till set temperature is reached in the room
  • The compressor then switches off, but the blower fan in the wall mounter unit keeps running. Durint this time the AC fan blows air out at Room temperature (which feels warmer)
  • When temperature of room rises then compressor starts running again. During theis period the air coming out from the inner uny is cooled by the condenser coils
  • And the process is repeated.... as long as you keep AC running
Ac works this way throught the operation period.
Now if you feel that your AC keeps switching off and on very frequently check the following
  • Your AC may be over powered for room *for example a 1.5 ton AC installed in a scenario where 1 ton is enough)
  • If there is voltage fluctuation in your area then the compressor may keep shutting don on large voltage swings
    • Solution: Get a Stabilizer
  • You have set the temperature setting too high. Max temp suggested for ACs is 25 degree Celsius, any higher will mean the compressor shuts down often. Remember every compressor shutdown and startup draws a high starting current
    • Set AC temperatures between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius
  • The thermostat/ Temperature sensor is faulty
    • Get unit inspected by Authorized technician
  • There is dust buildup on the outer unit / compressor unit. The dust buildup may cause overheating by preventing efficient heat exchange, This may lead to overheating of compressor and it shuts down to, prevent damage to itself
    • Get unit serviced by Authorized technician
  • The fan motor of the outer unit is not working properly
    • Get unit inspected by Authorized technician
Remember to get the AC serviced at least thrice a year to ensure smooth operation

look like the program is not working. if the set temp, is lower than the real temp, heather should come on.
if the set temp is higher than the ambient temp. the ACC should come on.
I will try one first, then setup the other.

Maytag m6x06f2a like new but doest blow cold air

Make sure the Thermostat is set correctly! The problem with mine was the temp in the house was colder than my A/C lowest thermostat setting.I had my AC temp setting on 66 degrees. The temp in the house was a little lower so the AC didnt kick on just the fan blowing cool air and no compressor working. The next day it was warmer out and the house temp was 79. So when I powered up the AC set at 66 i heard the compressor kick in and the AC worked fine.

Intermittent colling in Samsung Window AC

so your reported figures show that the unit is operating as planned
the closer to ambient temp the shorter it runs for
the further away from ambient temp the longer it runs for
when the desired temp is reached , the compressor will stop but the fan will continue to run to circulate air past the thermostat so that it will switch back on when the room temp reaches too high temp
and that is why it is recommended to set the temp at 25 C as that is the most economical temp to run it at

We have a MXZ-3A30NA that does not seem to be cooling down the house. Indoor temps are reading 75 to 78 degrees and the units are set at 65. We have gone through the book and have followed the check list...

Hi!!

Check the following:

Make sure the filter and the evaporator coil are clean. Also check condenser coil in the outside unit is clean.

When unit is turned on there should be (on the led display, inside unit) one green light on for the blower and another one for the compressor, both lights should be ON untill the unit reaches the preset temp. If the light for the compressor (usually the light on the right side) does not stay ON, check the outside unit.

On the outside unit, check that when turned on, both the fan and the compressor kick in and stay running. If the fan motor stops, the compressor overheats and the thermal proteccion shuts it down to prevent damage. Also, if the R22 gas is low, the low pressure switch prevents the compressor from running.

Good Luck!!

AC compressor wiil not turn on

You will have to find the contactor which is located in the outside unit. And check the voltage at the contactor, 26 v as this is the thermostat calling for the compressor to come on. You can also push in the contactor and see if the fan and compressor start. There should be an outside fuse box close to your condensing unit. Good luck

Hi it sounds to me like what actvates the 2nd stage of the compressor is not turning the compressor on when the ambeint temiture reaches the point that it calls for the 2nd stage to start it may be an out door thermostat or a ambient senser and I would request a new Tec to come out and ckeck

Intertherm S3QA042K compressor won't restart

You probably need a hard-start kit. A hard-start kit connects to the run capacitor and provides a starting boost for your compressor. If you install a hard-start kit, monitor your a/c for a while because it is possible that the bearings in the compressor are going bad.
