DCR TRV320 Hi! I have DCR TRV320. The problem is that I put tape in (it works fine) but after a few seconds it ejects it showing error c31:10. I tried different tapes - same result.

My camera hasn't worked for a couple of years now, machine worked fine but nothing showed on the screen. I took out the tape and whacked it gently about 3 good whacks, put the tape back in and it worked. Awesome. Thanks so much. Bill C

Had the same problem with 2 seperate Sony camcorders, both digital.
Firstly, make sure the tape isn't at fault, I had that fault on a tape, it just wouldn't play (tape mangled).
When I tried another tape, worked perfectly. All tapes would work, but not this one. The camera is extremely sensitive to damaged tapes.
But once I had the problem with every tape.
After trying the Sony "solution", which unsurprisingly didn't work I came across some answers.
The suggestion was to take the tape out, unplug the power and whack the camera a few times.
Not too hard, of course, you wouldn't want to damage it. So care is needed.
It seems some part gets jammed and this will work it loose.
It worked perfectly, the camcorder would only play 3-4 mins before displaying the error and afterwards worked perfectly.
Sony will "fix" this problem for 300-400 bucks, only for it to return very soon.

That is the "LOAD" error code.

However, to service the C:31 code, Sony recommends you do the following:

  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
  3. Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.
  4. Turn on the camcorder.
  5. If the error message appears, service may be required.
If your camcorder still shows the same error code, then you'll have to send in your camcorder for service.

Take it to a local shop and get an estimate.  At least you'll know what it will cost to fix.  Cheaper than buying a new one.

PS: I have the 330...had it cleaned once after 5 years for same reason and it still works great.

I have a C:31:23 code showing up on my Sony DCR-TRV320 camcorder. Can't do any recording or anything. That is flashing along with an eject symbol. Tried another tape and same thing happens. What is up...

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated but they can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Manual eject option for trv320? No tape in it. Won't open so I can put one in.

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the cassette compartment will not open or the tape is stuck and will not eject.
IMPORTANT: If your camcorder model has a RESET button, first try pressing this button. If there is no RESET button, or pressing the button does not resolve the issue, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Remove the battery from the camera.
  3. Remove the AC power supply from the camera.
  4. Slide the power switch on the camera to the VTR , VCR or CAMERA mode for 15 seconds.
  5. Slide the power switch back to the OFF position.
  6. Connect the AC power supply to the camera.
  7. Attempt to open the cassette compartment.

My camera does not show what i have taped

Regarding no picture in playback is problem mostly of dirty / clogged video head in Sony handy-cam and can be corrected by using good quality video head cleaning tape.
As far as memory stick picture concern, I think lost pictures (42)would be in other folder on memory stick.

Sony DCR-PC100 does not eject (well not really!)

Don't think this is a complete solution, but it might help. Try checking out the buttons on the camera. I've got one of those same cameras but my problem is the ribbon cable in the cassette carrier broke and I'm on the hunt for a new one, and a service manual. By the way, how about emailing a copy of the service manual to me at [email protected]. Thanks. I might be able to help further with a copy of that.

Sony Handycam DCR-TRV330 Digital-8 won't calibrate tapes to be able to view

hi there. i just actually had this problem right now. and heres how i fixed it :) it had the error so i took out the tape left it ejected for about 5 seconds. then put the tape back. it read for a little then errored again so it was close. next what i did is plugged the camera in (last time this error happened i plugged in the power and it fixed it) still no fix so i took off the battery waited 5 seconds then put it back on. after that i ejected the tape again and re put it in and it worked! you could try anyone of those things. and usually they work for me. maybe it has something to do with the cameras being old.

Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.

Sony DCR-TRV320

Try this (seems to be a standard thing from Sony):
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
  3. Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.
  4. Turn on the camcorder.
  5. If an error message appears, service may be required. If the error ,message starts with an "E" it needs to be sent in.
Go to any large photo shop and get an estimate.
