FINAL SOLUTION TO FIX THE BELT FROM COMING OFF LT1045 WHILE MOWING!

I also had this issue with my LT1045 belt. However, I just figured out how to finally fix / re-engineer my LT1045 Cub Cadet from having issues with the belt coming off of the deck while mowing.

Taking it back into a shop for repairs will not work, the belt will just come off again the first time you mow. I am making a YouTube Video to help others like me with this mower issue and will post a link here soon showing how to fix this design flaw.

It took me about an hour to fix but I've got it working now with no problems, minimum vibrations and belt is running cool now! I've gone for 2 months with no problems now. Check back soon for the link!! I expect I will have the video tutorial finished within a week!!

The Cub Cadet mowers are notorious for poorly designed belt-deck configurations. The Idler Pulley Brackets are inadequately supported with springs leading to excessive vibration combined with a misalignment of the pulleys will lead to eventually the belt popping off of the deck and/or being cut by the pulleys themselves. Solution to this problem for the LT1045 and other similar models can be viewed at:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pd4nYovcn...

I had this problem, but found the the tension pully under the deck was too loose. I tightened the bolts on the pully and have had no problems since.

My belt came off and I need to know how to put it back on?

There should be 4 pulleys.2on the deck that are above the blades, put the belt on those first.

There should be a tension pulley, with the engine OFF,look on top of the deck and engage the blades.Note the direction the tension pulley moves, the belt must pass inside that pulley. Now disengage the blades and put the belt on the engine pulley.

1046 cub done 120hrs 12mths old replaced all pullies bearing use 5 belts in 12mths belts keep comeing off is this a problem with this modle 2009

hi,
on some cubs there are two holes for the spring loaded pulley adjustment arm. take the deck back off and look at the spring loaded pulley arm mechanism, if theres two holes , take the bolt out that holds the adjustment arm down and move it to the other hole. theres two holes for the spring too, try the other hole, make sure your spring isnt upside down. putting the spring back on is difficult. connect it to the front first then come around the back with a spare piece of rope, put it on the spring and pull on the rope to get the spring back on the mower deck. use eye protection and be careful.

I have a 1040 series tractor when the PTO is not engaged belt comes off pulleys because so loose. Tractor purchased April 2010 only has 12 hours on it

You have 2 options for this repair:

Option1. Your Cub Cadet comes with a 1 year warranty. Go to www.cubcadet.com to find your nearest servicing dealer. Do not take it back to the store you bought it from, unless they have an on-site repair shop AND will honor the Cub Cadet warranty.

Option 2. The belt guide(s) are either missing or mis-positioned. There should be several guide pins that stick down from the chassis and should be positioned very close (within 1/4") of the PTO drive pulley and the PTO driven pulleys. All these pins make sure that the belt stays close to the pulleys when disengaged. The belt is supposed to be pretty loose when disengaged, but the guid pins will keep it on its track. You can also go to www.partstree.com and look up the illustrated parts listing for your exact tractor. Sometimes the pictures will be detailed enough to show you where the guides are.

Good Luck!
