Broken Polycom Multiplexer QUAD BRI

Hi there,

I'm trying to get 384Kbps out of my Polycom Viewstation 512.
At the moment, I can achieve 128K only.
I'm trying to establish if the mulitplexer is broken or the 2nd and 3rd lines are down.
I plug the cables to 2 different IMUX but everytime the 2nd and 3rd lines were flashing.
The problem is, I am not sure the IMUX works perfectly.
Is it possible to repair a multiplexer?
Would I be able to do myself?

I have had similar situations with the multiplexer where individual lines stopped working. I would recommend to just go to ebay and search for a replacement there. The used devices are usually so cheap that it is not worth opening up and repairing the quad bri.

What does QUAD BRI stand for?

It means that there are four ISDN BRI S/T interfaces on the device. Each BRI line contains two phone numbers at 64Kbps of bandwidth each so the Quad BRI would supply 128Kbps x 4 or 512Kbps of bandwidth.

What is the configuration of RJ45 connector to BRI interface?

If it is only one RJ45 connector on the Viewstation you need the iMux to bridge the conferencing unit to the BRI lines.

Polycom Fx doesn't power on or show any signs of life

Try disconnecting the ISDN module and then cycling the power. If that doesn't work speak to your support provider about repair costs. Ultimately you may need to replace it because of its age (it might be End of Life and not available for repair)

How do I find the MAC Address for my Polycom ViewStation ISDN Video Conference?

I just called Polycom and the guy said it starts with 0003 or 0004. Sure enough I had one of those numbers, it was the same as the serial number on the box the phone came in. This number is found on a sticker on the back side of the phone. Easy to find, but not labeled as a "mac address"

Are you able to move the camera using the remote?
If not, then you may have a hardware issue.
If yes, then try to connect to the Viewstation (web interface) using its IP from a Computer.
