Durite inverter I've just plugged my 250watt durite inverter into a freezer and now the unit doesn't power up at all, I suspect the freezer was over powered for the inverter but I can't find a fuse to replace anywhere. If I did this with my cheap and nasty inverter I would just change the fuse! Does anybody have any ideas? Thanx .steve

If the unit doesn't have an external fuse and it doesn't reset itself after an overload, it possibly has an internal (onboard) fuse that needs replaced. Possibly de-soldered and re-soldered...

SOURCE: power going up and down

An incandescent lamp that is cold takes approximately 10 times the running current initially. The inverter MAY not be able to start the 500 watt lamp if its protection circuits sense the very low starting resistance of the lamp.

Test the inverter on some other device first.

I have a durite 1500 watt inverter and it has stopped working is there a fuse inside ?and if so how do i change it

Could be a number of reasons it quit. You crossed the power wires blowing the diodes for protection, or you over loaded it an blew a MOSFET, the fuse blew, or a number of things. You have got to be more specific.

Overloaded inverter will not power up

Have you checked the voltage going to the inverter? Sounds like you may have exceeded the load that he inverter can handle but not enough information to confirm that from this end. You mention "plugged into my van battery", possibly you have this plugged into your Cigar Lighter? Mega fuses are usually really high amperage fuses, much more than the inverter could blow and save the inverter. The fuse should be matched to the load and about 50% higher. If the device is rated at 10 amps, a 15 amp fuse will provide protection where a mega with 500 amps will act like no fuse at all to the inverter.

Just connected my durite 1000w inverter to battery wrongly got a big spark now will not work

Check the fuses . Look inside for a fuse on the circuit board. There may be some burned up components inside too.

The video on our Insignia 32" LED-LCD HDTV, 1080p

Hi Joyce,

First of all thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.
I've suspected that the fault is not the cable reception, hook up, but inside the set. To confirm it, check if the symptoms remain the same no matter what the input is (DVD/BD player, game console, direct TV, etc.). If the problem still persist, then the fault is either the inverter board or the backlight of the TV.

Backlights are the one generating the brightness backround of LCD to see the images generated at the LCD panel. It has a high voltage source that will light it up and that is the inverter board. If one of the backlights fail, it will produce overload to the high voltage transformer of the inverter board and will sensed by the feedback circuitry and will automatically shuts off the power supply of the inverter board to avoid further damaged. Same when the inverter board gone to malfunction, the feecback circuitry will automatically shut off its power supply.
The backlights and the inverter board must be checked to isolate where the fault came from. Most of the faulty backlight has a physical indication of fault like blacked end, and can be easily identify through visual inspection. If the backlights are in good condition, then the fault is the inverter board. Ebay.com and shopjimmy.com is a reliable supplier of parts, check your model no. at the rear panel and then search it to their search engine and all available parts will be displays.

Also, I would advice you to double check if your unit is under warranty period (1 year), if so, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Opening the rear panel will void the warranty.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Hope I gave you an idea what's going wrong to your unit.

Have a nice day!
Good luck and take care!
Kind Regards,

Problem with Samsung UN55B6000 54.6 in. HDTV LCD TV I have already replaced the power supply in the Samsung UN55B6000 and still have a clicking relay and no power when I plug in TV. What else could be...

Hello
Just check its backlight inverter board for any shorted components in it. Then check further. This is a common fault to most of the Samsung LCDs which I've faced. The symptome will be the same as you say. Disconnect the supply line to backlight inverter and see whether there is any click sound heard. If not, make sure that backlight inverter board is faulty, and slhould be replaced with same type and number. If there is stll click sound, main board is fauty. OK.

Hi i am trying to conect 2 12volt batteries 1 as a lesure battery without draining my main battery i have bought a durite spliter 0-727-18 splitter but don,t know where to conect the 2 spade clips can you...

if you want to have both batteries getting charged but only drawing on one for the car and the other one for a fridge or camping lights etc, is that right? Well there is 2 ways to do this, the best way is through a cole hersey switch ,which when set up will let you run on 1 batt. 2 batt ,boyh batts and has an off pos ition ,for no pwer any where, that is the moost expensive way but by far the bestthe other way is via a battery isolator switch that has i battery for the car the other charger but you cannot use it to start the vehicle if the car one goes flat unless you use jumper leads...I would not have that set up but lots of folk do depending on your ability neither are all that hard to do but if you cant solder and dont realy under stand electrics then you might be better to get a workshop to do it,you think about it and let me know .ican tell you how to do it if thats what you want to do what country are you in?

Is this inverter powerful enough?

You are right. This is not enough to operate this freezer. You are going to need a bigger invertor it get it to work properly 900 or 1000 watt should be efficient even though it is not the best way to run the unit. If the unit has a problem you would be replacing the inverter all the time. Just FYI
