Best to take it back to main dealer, if they cant sort it get them to replace the car as it only 1year old dont take any **** from the main dealer

S80 engine surge at idle

You could have a bad or contaminated Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. You can get a used one online for less then 100. You can also purchase a can of MAF sensor cleaner at a local auto supplies store and clean it. It located right at the air filter housing.

this sounds similar to a problem i had. as the rpm went over 2000 the engine would stop for a split second and then kick back in.

Engine surges under load and not under load

Surging is often caused by a bad sensor in the air/fuel supply - MAP, IAC or TPS. Check for trouble codes (DTCs) using a good code reader.
