I have a whirlpool refrigerator, model GS6SHAXLS03. the ice dispenser no longer works. water dispenser and ice maker work fine. no noise when lever is depressed.
Ok, I show parts that are available for that model, sounds like the control board is defective for your dispenser, or possibly the Ice maker control board. It also could be a break in the wiring or the control itself. Below is a break down for those parts, wiring and the control behind the push to dispense ice or water. Hope it is not that control because some places don't provide that part. Now if it's a connection problem that we can find, I will do mu best to help you solve this.Could you insure the model number is correct as this is very important? [email protected]
Sometimes I don't get replies from Fixya. Sorry about that. I will research your model closer now that I have your email. My site ishttp://servicepartstec.blogspot.com/
Enter model number in search box GS6SHAXLS03 and you will be able to follow with me. I am available till morning at cell # 864-812-1887 or I can call you. You also can cluck on my name below and it takes you to my site, Thanks, Sea Breeze
Remove the Ice container and set it to the side. Press the door switch button that turns the light on in so the refrigerator thinks the door is closed have someone press the dispense ice button and look in back to see is the fork object is turning and if is clock wise or counter. Also look at the nut that the fork is mounted on to see if for some reason it has become loose. Then let me know. I did go back to your page and see that another pro said something about the module inside front of ice maker may be the reason, but we need to determine first if power is going to the auger fork first. I do have the service manual attached to this email for the ice maker in PDF format. adobe.com adobe 9 free addition will open it. I also have a whirlpool ice make trouble shooting manual I will send if this do help use get on the right track. .Sea breeze
There were many types through the years for now w need to unplug the ice maker and examine the inside for what is in the photo. Let me know what you find.
I'm leaning on localwonder on this one!, Sea Breeze
Those four High Quality Photos are a great way of explain the problem and the solution will be coming as soon as I can go over the service notes and have a talk with our sponsors. In addition this is going to be blogged at another site hosted by one of the sponsors below your post. I will email you and have you also involved. This is Fixya and we all need to work together to solve our customers and not anger the other sponsors. Hope you can understand that is the way I will handle this until solved. Thanks, Sea Breeze
RD, I still have a feeling the problem is in the control panel in the front and behind the dispenser control panel. Your blog continues below at a this link http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.ph...
May not work for you to enter from that link yet, but will copy and paste to your email.
And your photos are on the web to view at this link

OK, Here is what we have from Tech Brian,
Well JW invited me to this thread, but I am a little confused as to the is going on. The original question on Fixya stated water was dispensing and the ice maker was working, but the ice was not dispensing. This would indicate a problem with the auger motor or the wiring leading to it. I also read a reply about replacing the module which has nothing to do with the dispenser so I hope that information has been dismissed. There is no board associated with the dispenser on that model as it is simply a set of buttons that change the routing of the power to the motor. So as was mentioned, if the freezer door switch is closed, then 120vac should be read between the blue and white wires at the motor when the ice dispenser lever is pressed. If there is no voltage, then it would be time to remove the dispenser cover and check the voltage at the dispenser lever switch. If there is voltage, then the DC outputs from the motor would need to be verified to determine if the motor was the issue or dispenser selector buttons. Playing the odds, I would suspect the inverter board on the motor as failed due to water leaking down the auger coupler shaft, but that would need to be verified with a multimeter. If the customer has access to a multimeter, they will need to run the circuit and verify voltages, or they can just start replacing the associated parts. Hope this helps.
Carefully do this test and let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

HI, the Ice maker control module will need to be replaced in your unit asap if possible. this module controls and initiates the actions when the lever is depressed.
