Here is the information from the website. The link to the manual is provided below. HOW TO CHARGE AND START THE WATCH Swing the watch from side to side approximately 50 times. * Before swinging the watch, check and remember where the minute hand is so that you can tell if the start-up indicator has worked or not. First, check that the crown is at the normal position. * If the crown is pulled out and the watch is swung, the start-up indicator will not work even if the watch starts operating. * Swing rhythmically at a rate of twice a second. * No additional benefit is obtained by swinging the watch more quickly or with greater vigor. * When the watch is swung, the oscillating weight in the generating system rotates to drive the mechanism. As it rotates, it gives out a sound, which is not a malfunction. 1 2 The minute hand moves quickly and stops as the watch starts operating. (Start-up indicator) Then, it will move at 20-second intervals. 3 After checking that the minute hand has done this, pull out the crown to set the time. 4 After pushing back the crown in to the normal position, swing the watch further approximately 350 times to reserve one day of power, and then, put the watch on your wrist. http://www.seikowatches.com/support/ib/pdf/1m20_e.pdf Good luck, Techjoel

I have a Seiko Arctura Kinetic Auto Relay that i have not worn in a long time, when i bought the watch i use to be able to pick it up and the hour and minute hand would go around and pick back up on the...

It is likely that the watch has simply run very low on power through not being worn at all. The movement will sleep if unused but does require wrist movement to recharge it eventually. It is also possible that the capacitor may need changing depending on its age but first try wearing it for a few weeks and you may find its absolutely fine once it has regained some charge. On my sports 50 it stops if it is off of my wrist for 14 hours . Also I dont know how to change the day sign to english

This is obviously unsatisfactory and I can understand your problem. Even spring driven automatic watches will run for 2 - 3 days when not worn.

Your watch can either be charged by use (i.e. wearing it) or by winding the crown wheel, although there seem to be a variety on kinetic watches and it is not clear if all of them can be wound by hand (mine can't but it goes to sleep after two days and can stay in this mode for 3 months and re-starts when it is worn!)

For a fully description of the kinetic operation go to http://www.seikowatches.com/technology/kinetic/kinetic_dd.html and there you will will see a choice of kinetic watches.

You can also access the instruction manual list to check out how your watch is intended to operate. Some watches indicate days in two languages (as yours appears to do) and you can select the correct day by pulling the crown wheel to the middle position where you generally change the date by rotating it forward and the day by turning it backward. When turning it backward, you should see and alternative day and you should stop at this position. The watch will continue with the same language after this.
If this does not work, then you should be able to find out the day sign after reading the instructions.

If your watch is new and after reading all the literature you still cannot sort out how to make your watch run for a longer period, then contact the maker who should be able to help.

Good luck!

Why my seiko kinetic (Velatura - Direct Drive) will not stay wound in my watch winder

This is happening because capacitor can not store energy any more. Visit your closest watch repair shop and ask for new capacitor. Rate me, plz.

Watch will not stay running

Most likely time to replace the capacitor with a new Lithium Ion battery. This is the correct way to fix this problem. No one uses the old capacitors any more. I do this repair daily as a Certified Master Horologist/watch repair man. Ron at TimelyWatchRepair.com

Second hand doesent return to 1200 position after replace batt

I just replaced the battery in my 20yr old Seiko chrono sports 100. And I had the same problem. I think I stopped it on 12 while in stopwatch mode and held down the start stop button and the set button at the same time. See if that works dude.

Seiko Kinetic that doesn't work

This watch does not have a battery, but has a capacitor which is rechargable. It is not taking a charge, and needs to be replaced. You should take it to a store with a watchmaker ON THE PREMISES. Or you could send it to: www.bscwatchrepair.com

My Kinetic watch stopped working.

I highly suspect and probably you also suspect that the energy storage capacitor needs to be replaced. My experience in working on these is that they are only good for about 3-4 years. I only replace with a new Seiko Lithum Ion battery. Check www.timelywatchrepair.com
