I'm shopping for a zero turn riding mower perferrably with 2 blades as I've heard 3 really don't work very well. What is the best performance with the most reasonable priced mower? Right now we're looking at a Toro and Craftsman?
find mowers with Briggs and stratton engines ,Kohler engines Honda engines and Kawasaki are most popular
I have no preference
Most any popular brand will suffice as long as the machine is taken care of and or maintained as you would your own vehicle.
hopefully you will get more input from others this is my 2 cents worth. Goodluck and happy shoppingHow much grass do you have to cut?
will you be bagging it?
2 blades will get you a cut width of 42"
3 blades as high as 72"
Toro and Craftman are good products
Toro of the 2 choices my choice
If you dont want to go commercial grade
then also try lowes and home depot
check John deere out and cub cadet

I had a similar problem with my TroyBilt 50 inch zero turn mower. Was cutting grass when it stopped going either forward or backward even though it would start and the PTO would move the cutting blades. Turned out the tensioner spring for the belt that drives the motors near the rear wheels had gone missing. Searched the yard where I had cut and moved the machine but couldn't find it. A new one cost me about $7.50. Put the new one on and it worked fine.
All riding mowers have a seat safety, blade engage safety and a brake clutch safety, some mowers have a reverse mowing safety. Seat under the seat, blade and brake you will have to check the linkages underneath, and if there is a reverse mowing one I have seen them near the shifter handle right under the fender.
The blades on this cub cadet are activated with air pressure. Chances are that when you hit that stump, you either blew a fuse or the control module that allows the blades to spin. Begin by checking the fuses. J.
Under each blade is one single nut holding each blade on. It is not left-hand thread and there is nothing special about it.
Standard thread - Standard hardware - Standard tools. (If memory serves, you need a 15/16" socket to remove these.)
There is no need to index or time the blades. They cannot hit together unless something is bent or damaged on your mower deck.
