Video is different from HDMI. From what I have seen you should have video inputs and component inputs. instead of trying these video inputs, look for tv/component button on your remote or tv settings.

SOURCE: toshiba regza all but the hdmi input on my 42 inch toshiba regza

In most cases the HDMI issues are the source itself. Try another item like a DVD player or BluRay player. If they work then its a compatibility issue. If they don't then the HDMI receiver board in the TV is bad. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...

SOURCE: Toshiba TV fails to recognize HDMI input

If the tv does all those symptoms but after some seconds the tv works and stays doing the job. THen the tv has a slow microprocessor to recognice the different resolutions or video inputs.

But if the tv cannot do anything and stay aout of signal forever. send the tv to the waranty. (no waranty? you have to use the component input instead to have digital signal reproduced

SOURCE: Help HDMI Splitter Doesn't Work!

The HDMI splitter is intended to take one source to two displays. You need an HDMI switch to take two sources to one display, a device you can tell which input to select.

How to fix no sound audio on Panasonic viera when connected from hdmi 3 port to Sony bluray BDP s480 hdmi port?

Well, first make sure you don't inadvertently have the "mute" control on your DVD player turned to the "on" position. Does it work on HDMI 1 or 2? Play with it a bit. Connect it to other TV HDMI inputs and see what happens. Obviously, the video is getting through, just not audio. HDMI inputs on your TV carry both (unless there is a problem with one of them), as does the HDMI output on your Blue ray. Also, make sure the HDMI OUTPUT from your DVD is connected to the HDMI INPUT of your TV.

HOW DO I PLAY A DVD USING Hitachi Flat Panel Television 32HDL51 (ITS CONNECTED THROUGH HDMI CABLE)

Page 18 of the manual, you shouldn't need to do steps 2 or 3.

CONNECTING A COMPONENT SOURCE WITH HDMI or DVI CAPABILITY TO INPUT 1 or INPUT 2
1.Connect the HDMI or DVI to HDMI connection cable from the output of the HDTV set top box or DVD player to the HDMI input as shown on the AVC Center below.
2.With DVI output, connect the cable from the AUDIO OUT R of the HDTV set top box or DVD player to the INPUT (AUDIO/R) jack.
3.With DVI output, connect the cable from the AUDIO OUT L of the HDTV set top box or DVD player to the INPUT (AUDIO/L) jack.
4.Press the INPUTS button, then select INPUTS 1 or 2 to view the program from the HDTV set top box or DVD player. The VIDEO OSD label disappears automatically after approximately four seconds.
5.Select ANT A or B from the INPUTS menu to return to the previous channel.
NOTES:1. Completely insert the connection cord plugs when connecting to rear panel jacks. The picture and sound that is played back will be abnormal if the connection is loose.
2. The HDMI input on INPUT 1 or 2 contains the copy protection system called High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP). HDCP is a cryptographic system that encrypts video signals when using HDMI connections to prevent ******* copying of video contents.
3.HDMI is not a "NETWORK" technology. It establishes a one-way point-to-point connection for delivery of uncompressed video to a display.
4.The connected digital output device controls the HDMI interface so proper set-up of device user settings determines final video appearance.

How do I connect my PS3 to my sanyo dp50747 in hdmi? I have everything hooked up correctly, but its not coming up on the TV. What do I do?????

If you see a no signal message, then it means that the signal output format of the PS3 does not match . It happens if you have previous used it on another tv and now connected it to a different tv. To resolve this, turn off the PS3 . Press and hold the power button on the PS3 till you hear three BEEPS. The PS3 should automatically detect the tv's resolution and the initial setup screen should appear. After that you should just follow on-screen instructions to set it up.

hi,
You have to check the digital audio assignment of you AVR for HDMI 1 and HDMI 2. There is three options for the digital audio for HDMI 1 and HDMI 2. You can set it as optical ,coaxil, or the HDMI itself. In you receiver the assignment may be in optical input or in coaxial input for the two HDMI inputs.

1. Go to the system setup
2. Select input setup
3.Select input assignment.
4. Select all the three input ,you are using as HDMI

RX-V465 output HDMI 1 will work but HDMI 2-4 won't, also when I hook up Wii via rca to receiver only get sound no picture.

This receiver has only one HDMI output, but 4 HDMI inputs. If some inputs don't work, try connecting the equipment (DVD for example) to HDMI input which works with other equipment....
For the RCA (composite) video input - it won't work, because this receiver don't have any video processing circuit.
So HDMI input video goes to HDMI outout connector.
Composite (RCA) video input goes to Composite outout and no other video output.
S-video input goes only to s-video output.

Denon AVR-488 , problems routing cable box through receiver to tv

If you don't have one, the manual is available online: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/AVR-488-OM-E_101.pdf

Suggestions:

1. Reset to default values. Per page 36 of manual: 1. Turn off Power. 2. Press Power while simultaneously pressing Speaker A and Speaker B. 3. Once the display starts flashing at intervals of about 1 second, release the two buttons.

2. Make sure you have AM or FM radio reception. This makes sure your speakers, amps, etc are connected and working correctly.

3. Connect DVD player to HDMI 1 in and TV to HDMI Monitor Out.
Play a known good DVD that works when you connected the DVD directly to the TV via HDMI.

Select the DVD/HDP input on the receiver and play the DVD. You should not have to perform any input assignments, etc. It should just work, as HDMI1 is the default system setting for DVD.

4. If possible, obtain a STB with HDMI out & repeat step 3 using the HDMI2 TV/CBL input. Keeping the signal path all digital (HDMI) will give you a better picture quality than forcing several analog to digital conversions (component video is analog).

4A. To use the component connection, first test by connecting the STB directly to the TV via component video/audio if possible. This tests that the component video output of the STB is working correctly.

Next, remove direct connection and connect via receiver. Connect STB to receiver as shown on page 13 in manual. Connect component video output from STB to component video input #2 (tv/cbl) on receiver. Connect the STB audio output to the corresponding tv/cbl audio inputs.

Make sure nothing is connected to the HDMI2 input or to any other TV/CBL inputs (composite video, s-video, digital coax audio).

Now select the TV/CBL input and turn on the STB. You should have both audio & video.

The HDMI "input" ports damage output ports of connecting devices

i know this sounds stupid, but have you "toggled" or "played" with the HDMI cables? are they the same manufacturer? HDMI channel connections are very fickle. If just one connection is not exactly correct, they go to a limp, no go status. Since they run at such a minimal voltage, i can't see them "blowing" the outputs on the devices.however....if your cable has a serial type output for video only, I would connect the hdmi convertor to it and see if it works.

HDMI video not functioning on a new Onkyo TX-SR606

Input 5 not playing audio via HDMI or stereo

HDMI can be problematic. Follow these steps in order for the best success with HDMI.

1) With all devices off, turn the TV/monitor on first and wait for it to come on.

2) Select the HDMI input.

3) Turn on the next HDMI device (stereo amp if it comes before the video device, or the video device itself and let it come on.

4) Play the video.

Some video devices may need the audio output to be set to PCM or 48k/96k datastream to work correctly.

If this doesn't help, you may have a compatibility issue with your HDMI device. Usually it is the fault of the player/video receiver and rarely the display/TV. All the TV/monitor does is query the source device as to what type it is and the resolutions it's supports.

HDMI connection???

Hi Greg,
Again, if you have a high definition dish box with HDMI output, and a dvd player with HDMI output, please connect them both directly to your TV HDMI inputs.
When watching TV(dishnetwork box).remember to switch the HDMI video inputs.
Same as your DVD player, you need to switch it under your TV video input.
