The illuminator is not working, what do you think might be the problem. Thank You Ken

Hello, what illuminator are you referring to here. The image intensifier tube, or the IR illuminator?

I am suspecting it the those Russian manufacture image intensifier tubes I am also accusing them....Russian NV manufactured of installing electronic destruction timer in the their image tube.

I fairly sure that you Famous Trails FT1200 NV Monocular is about five years old. Five years is the average on the image intensifier tube life span.

I have a few extra Green Russian Image tubes there not new but the will work but for how long---who knows...

I would call Famous Trails NV Optic company and see what they will to charge to fix you FT1200 monocular. There good possibility they will tell you that they can't repair you FT1200. But they will take it for a trading on a new model (made in Russia) for a few---hundred dollars more.

If you fill like not do this then auction it on eBay. I need some parts or if you want it fix then send it to me. drawbridge21@q.com That my email. What ever you do I wish you lots of luck in your endeavors. GB...stewbison

Whats the button on top of the 1200 that has a red and green arrow?

The red button is to turn on the IR illuminator. The green button is to turn on the monocular.
Also, they could be used as gain the image intensifier tube. To make it brighter or dimmer.

I have the ATN Night Shadow Gen 1 with the doubler and long range illuminator. After only several uses I can no longer get any distance out of it. I can see objects close up (20 yards) but everything...

Hello, Welcome to ATN Russian image intensifier tube. That right Russian. There is a good possiblity that Russian manufactured the hole binocular with ATN name and logo on it. Typically, this image tube are made to their standards and not to USA standards. There are a lot of countries in this world that manufacture night vision devises and there parts. I know that ATN didn't pay what you paid for this nice looking....yes, that what I said "nice looking" But that about all it is... You can send it back to ATN for repairs but it will new Russian parts to replace old Russian parts.

Now, check IR illuminate to see if it is working. This 1st gen Russian image tube are good up to 80-100 yards. I wish you all the luck. GB...stewbison

I have put new batterys in my nv-100 still nothing happens, the illuminator lights up.

I sound like the Russian manufactured image intensifier tube has gone bad. This Kalinka Zenith Piezon Russian NV monocular was and is manufactured in Russia. Have tried to use piezo handle on the top of the monocular. This is suspose to eliminate the battery for operation by using you hand and finger to pull down on the handle many time to charge up some capacitor and diodes.. GB...stewbison

Cannot see thru optics. ifr comes on but still cannot see any image? can the back of the night vision come off to check the power illum light?

Hello, so the image intensifier tube light up. Shake it and listen for parts raddle around inside.
How long have you own this Night Owl? Have you been using night vision on bright lights?
If you have the intensifier tube is gone back to the Red Star....it died! The IR operates on a different switch than the controler, ccfl inverter, multiplier, image tube. Sorry. stewbison

There is good bet that I have a tube for this, but it not worth sending to me. Also, maybe it not the image intensifier tube but something else in the electronic.............Made in Russia--Red Star

There is not picture its just vioce

Battery OK, IR light up, no green image on the intensifier image tube, correct! What type of voices are you hearing? Give ATN Aries 390 two Zolof and wait two day, just kidding!!! The noise is a crackling, high freqencey hum, popping, etc. Also remove the eye lens, it screw off, then remove the scope to someplace where it semi dark. Turn it on and observe the 18mm white plate and see if it turn green---no green---no look see---no image intensifier tube, it dead that is the mage tube. stewbison.

Power light turns on, Infra red illuminator works, cant see anything in scope. Reticule doesnt light up and no vision through optics. New battery etc.

Hello, bad image intensifier tube and possible ccfl with it coil. Major repair on MK238 scope. I think they make a generation 2 tube for this scope like 350,360,390, and 410. Call AT ATN. stewbison

How far is the IR illuminator good for and is it possibl to change to a bigger LED inside the uit? Is this gen I or 2 tech?

Hello, yes you could but the scope is limited the clarity of the image intensifier tube with effective range from 0 to 80-100 yards max and if you get this out of it. The only difference here is the 1,5 85mm lens. Most lens are 45 or 50mm. So with the 85 mm lens which lets in more ambient light and with a brighter IR illuminator you might get a 100 yards or more. You have a Russian manufactured monocular the Famous Trails has installed their name and logo. You have a generation 1 ex-soviet union image tube. It painted green like the Soviet military. Sorry man.. GB...stewbison

Degassed tube how to fix? repair?

Do you mean de-purged tube or de-gause tube? Image intensifiers are not like CRT where they have a gausing problem. If a spot is burnt into the image intensifier, it unfortuantely is permanent.

If you mean de-purged (gasless), this can be done by a reputable service/repair workshop with nitrogen.
