You will need a psp running custom firmware 3.71 m33-3 or higher.

Remember if the game you want is a bunch of different parts then download the parts and select them all and extract them all to one folder.

And also, remember to always have a umd in the psp, otherwise it will say the game could not be started

You may have gotten a fake R4. Or you may have gotten the real R4, but downloaded the fake firmware onto the R4. You have to make sure that the R4 you are using, is compatible with the firmware you installed for it. There is no real way to do this other than test it out until it works.
My suggestion is to first download the firmware you are certain is the REAL firmware, if that does not work, try a FAKE version of the firmware. Another problem it might be is the actual games you have on your R4. A few of them (especially if they are new) won't work with fake R4's and vise versa. So start by having a game you know works 100% on your DS. Then go from there.
It's a pain in the ****, but sadly the only way at the moment. I've had my fair share of painful hours trying to fix my DS.

custom firmware is a hack of the original firmware that allows you to play pirated psp games, ps1 games and emulators of old consoles and games like nintendo and sega, it also allows special appilcations to be run. To get custom firmware you need a pandora battery (which is possible to make) and a memory stick with certain files on it. check pspiso.com to get what you need

Yes '4.21' is the PSP's preloaded firmware. You are wanting Custom Firmware (CFW), so you can avoid paying for the expensive games, I guess.
This is an extremely fraught process involving hacking the PSP's battery, downloading files like POPSLoader and CXMB which are, in turn, difficult to find, and perilously difficult to install without bricking your PSP, then you need to use 'Recovery' and 'CWCheat', and this is just the process of readying the PSP for use..
Then you have to be able to get games, and get them onto your machine. This is another process with many careful steps..

I suggest you go and find a PSP-modding forum and look at walkthroughs of the entire process before you even begin thinking about tackling this yourself. And if you still think it's possible for a PSP newbie to attempt this, then get reliable help from the forums or someone you know personally, who knows what they are doing.

Otherwise you'll end up with a brick!

u need custom firmware 4 that because custom firmware only can play pirated games.....n official firmware is for original games like umd disc only........

do u have custom firmware on ur psp. the only wy u can play downloaded iso/cso files are with custom firmware.

youve got a BRICK but dont worry this can be fixed first off find somone good with psps that has custom firmware and then ask about somthing called pandoras battery if they can make it you can fix your psp! make sure its someone you trust

I would presume the 378_PSPRadio0.37Final.zip you downloaded is a homebrew software, which is only allowed to run on a custom firmware, for custom firmware download and information, please refer to http://dark-alex.org/ , the most well known psp developer.

Apart from that, the 3.71 firmware does not support internet radio, the upcoming 3.80 firmware come with a internet radio function, but it would not be as useful as the PSPradio 0.37.

Best choice for you is go for the custom firmware!
