SOURCE: hoover contour fridge leaking

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

SOURCE: how can i check to see if the defrost is working

you will need to access the heater in the rear area of the freezer compartment and disconnect the heater element and take a continuity test of the element,if this checks good, then in the same area is your defrost timer, unplug the heater from it and hook up a voltmeter and energize the defrost timer manually and see if you have a voltage there

SOURCE: Hoover Contour HE423UFL fridge freezer continually frosts over?

I am on my fourth timer for this problem. Seems to fix the problem each time. You must remove the big chunk of ice covering the drain hole before you operate the fridge with the new timer. The contacts in the timer get burnt due to arcing inside the switch. The heating element seems to always work ok, but if the element is no good the fridge will not defrost.

SOURCE: Got a 9yr old w/house

If you cleaned it of all frost and ice and it keeps doing this then perhaps the defrost thermostat is detached from where it should be or shutting off too early. Try replacing it if is attached well.

My 15 years old Hoover contour both freezer and fridge not cold enough even I switched on to the max

Refrigerator: Freezer not cold enough. Defrost system problems, dirty condenser coils, fan failures, leaky door gaskets or control problems can lead to your freezer not getting cold enough. ... The frost buildup blocks cooling air paths through the evaporator so the freezer doesn't cool well.

Temperature sensors

I have an E402 fridge (403 litre model with freezer on bottom) . I just dismantled the freezer back wall due to a bad defroster element and noticed that on the back wall of the freezer is a small raised "cavity" or "slot" that the black thermostat fits into nicely. In my fridge, it is above the Collins coil and a bit to the right of centre(closer to the wire entry hole). Hope this helps

Siemens ka..n freezer problem

Look inside the back wall of the freezer to see if you have a layer of frost building. If yes this will indicate that the refrigerator is missing its defrost cycle. When you miss defrost it is usally number 1 the defrost control. Number 2 is the defrost heater has burned out and #3 the defrost thermostat. For you to look up the correct replacement parts you will need to find your refrigerators model number found most times inside the fresh food compartment.
