Cant send or recieve fax

Might be silly question but is it setup to auto transmit and receive? And have you tried to operate it manually? + take out the inline filter fax machines operate on volume'db' to soft and it can't hear, to loud and it can distort sound.

I have a HP 4315 officejet all in one and it prints fine...but when i try to fax a page it fails every time...why?

Good Day Sir, I have a solution to your problem, hope this will help you.

"HP 4315 officejet fax failed"
solution:
  • Turn off the machine by using the ON button and then unplug the power cord from the back of the machine. After a few seconds, plug the power cord back in and turn the power on.
  • Try to send or receive a test fax.
  • If you are running the test from the Fax Setup Wizard (windows) or Fax Setup Utility(Mac), Make sure the Machine is not busy completing another task, such as receiving a fax or making a copy. Check the display for a message indicating that the machine is busy.If it is busy, wait until it is finished and in the idle state.
  • Make sure you use the phone cord that came with the machine. If you do not use the supplied phone cord to connect from the telephone wall jack to the HP All-in-One, YOU MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO SEND OR RECEIVE faxes. then after you plug run the test again.
  • If you are using a PHONE SPLITTER, this can cause faxing problems. connect the machine directly to the telephone wall jack.
run the test again to make sure it passes and the machine is ready for faxing.

Goodluck and God bless.

My fax machine wont send or receive faxes any suggestions?

If it is properly connected to the jack in the machine and the wall, and it won't send OR receive...then it's NOT a simple problem, because nothing else need be done for the machine to at least "send" a fax.

In order to find the solution to this issue, you need the fax number for another fax machine that is operating correctly with which to send and receive faxes. After trying each of the following solutions, try to send or receive a fax from this other fax machine to test if the issue has been resolved with your HP fax product. The other fax can be in the same building, on another telephone line, or at another location with someone who can assist. It can also be helpful to call the person or company that is sending the fax. That party can offer information about how that fax machine behaves when sending a fax. This information can be valuable in determining the nature of the issue.
There are several possible solutions to this issue. Start with the first solution and then continue with the other solutions in the order presented until the issue is resolved. When the issue is resolved, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
Solution one: Run a fax diagnostic test
Run a fax diagnostic test to make sure that the HP fax product is set up correctly.
Load letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.
on the product control panel, press the setup button ( ).
Use the down arrow key ( ) to select Tools and then press the OK button ( ).
on the Tools menu, use the down arrow key ( ) to select Run Fax Test and then press the OK button ( ).
Review the results of the test.
If the result of the fax diagnostic test is All Pass ,
Reinitialize the fax
1. With the HP fax product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the HP fax product and from the electrical outlet.
2. Connect one end of the telephone cord to the telephone jack and then connect the other end of the cord to the port labeled 1-Line on the back of the HP fax product.
3. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the HP fax product and then reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet.
4. After the HP fax product reaches a ready state, try to send and receive a fax again.

If this works GREAT!, if not let me know....JCE

WONT POWER ON when plugged into a known good power source

This is from the FAQ on a similar model (the 770). My guess is that it won't be much help, but who knows... : The machine is not receiving a power signal. Make sure the power cord is plugged securely to the power outlet. If a surge protector or an extension cord is being used, disconnect them and plug the fax machine's power cord directly to the power outlet. If the fax machine is still not receiving a power signal, try plugging the machine's power cord into a different outlet on another circuit breaker. Good luck
