What if the speed LEDs on the VR2/VSI begin to flash?

  • Determine if the battery charger is connected to the power base. When the battery charger is connected to the power base, a charger inhibit feature keeps the power chair from driving. This is indicated by the VR2/VSI speed
    LED(s) flashing.
  • Determine if the charger harness fuse has blown. A blown charger fuse can cause the charger inhibit to
    activate.
  • Determine if all controller connections are plugged into the power base properly. If the 3-pin charger
inhibit connector is not plugged in properly, then the charger inhibit feature will activate.

J6 powerchair when charging cords and charger making ticking or sparking sounds but do not see sparks.

The battery charger is failing. The charger uses a switching power supply and you're hearing high voltage arcing internally.

Pride Jazzy 1103 Ultra controller code: when the "on" button is pushed and held down, three red, four amber, and one green LED come on and are solid (not flashing), and there is a second LED gauge...

Seven blinking LED's indicate a "Joystick Fault" on the controllers Pride uses. Could be just the actual joystick itself, the part you move to make the chair move, or it could be other electronics in the controller. Here's a link to troubleshooting info:

Pride colt . fully charged batteries but no power to lights indicators or drive

hi, okay have you checked the fuses located on the tiller stem normally located under a black plastic cover ?

Your batteries may be fully charged but the voltage is not enough to power up the controller, sigh of a dodgy charger ? , bad batteries ? ? check the battery voltage , should be at least 24volts
The horn will work as it bypasses the controller logic.

Sounds like your batteries have reached the end of their life cycle and are not holding a charge. If the 22NF batteries are more than 2 years old, have them load tested. They probably need to be replaced.

Pride 1121 wheelchair led 8bars flashing wont unlock batteries new ,the connections good. had just unloaded it ran it over a bump then it started flashing. Controler is bad or what? contiuity from motors...

trent618,

The 8 bar flashing lights indicate a possible control system trip. Without a serial Number or knowing which controller system you powerchair has, I will cover the common used controller systems for the model of powerchair you have.

If you have the Pilot or VSI control system the control system detects an internal problem within its self or the joystick, and I've seen it a couple of times when both the controller and joystick have an internal problem.

If you have the Pilot + or VR2 control system the control system detects an internal problem within its self and/or the joystick and/or a communications error between the joystick and controller. I've seen it once when the controller, joystick and cable between the joystick and controller being deffective. Due to the flashing lights and you have a Pilot + or VR2 there is a good chance the problem is the cable between the joystick and controller.

The possible solutions and repairs above will require the need for an authorized person to perform the tasks. Give the company that sold you the power chair a call, or anyone or different company which works on power mobility products as the part(s) needed will only be sold to authorized deallers or service providers.

Hope this helps, if so, please respond to this solution which will help others who may have the same question.
Thank you for using FixYa.

My Pride Mobility Celebrity X Scooter appears to be dead.

Many people have problems with their Pride scooters.
Pride refuses to issue any information or schematics, telling the customer to visit their dealer for chargable service.

Guess what !! The dealers don't have the info or schematics or service manuals either !!!

There are known faults and flaws in the Pride designs.

Look under the 'hood' for the controller - big box with heavy wires connected to the motor. Write down the manufacturer and model number from the data plate.

Go to the manufacturer's web site and get your manuals and info there. Curtis 1228 is a common model.

Also, pay attention to the temperature limits, and EMF / RFI sensitivity -- big problem !!

Finally, if your dealer service rep suggested offsetting the throttle handle slightly for more speed, he may have created another problem -- all controllers have a PROGRAMMED deadband, shifting the centering of the throttle lever throws the whole system out of balance - integral part of original setup.

Bottom line - find a reliable independent instrumentation and controls service person who is familiar with programmed electronic motor controllers.

Good Luck
