Dont resolve to chemicals or cutting until trying a compressor with a air nozzle with a little water. Use safety glasses for protection from blasting dirt in the grips. Or just use water in a squirt bottle like the rest of us.

To get the old grips off, use gasoline, lighter fluid or kerosene. This will get under the old grip and it will come off easy. Another way is to take a knife and cut the grip then use a screwdriver to open up the cut and pry off the old grip. To put the new grip on, spray a little WD-40 on the handlebars and the new grip will go right on.

SOURCE: For a Huffy Pro Beach

Identify the brand and model and hit the search engines, eBay, call a Bike Shop. It will need to be installed. NO ONE sells just one side. Consider an upgrade since you may be purchasing both sides.

Even the Huffy site doesn't refer to the bike by model number. What's it called?

Bicycle grip installation and removal

Putting bike grips on can be a hassle. Taking them off has a habit of destroying them. We're going to use hairspray to fix that problem.
For new grips, just spray a quick shot of any hairspray into them, twist them on and let them sit for 10 minutes or so. You're done!
To take old grips off, without destroying them, insert a small screwdriver or allen wrench between the grip and handlebar. Push/wiggle it in as far as it will go and lift up to make some air space under the grip. Spray the hairspray into that space, pull the tool out and twist the grip back and forth until it starts turning freely. Now, just pull it off.
Rubbing alcohol works well, too.

The handle grips on the "Delta 3 Wheel Rollator" have torn. We need replacements.

If the metal rod the grips fit onto are either 7/8" or 1" in diameter, have you thought of motorcycle or bicycle grips?

Put the grips in hot soap'water let them soak .take them out let cool off clean and rinse them off with luke warm water after cleaning them also inside the grip hole, clean the handle bar with alcohol. Put them back on and twist them till they become a bit stiff than let it dry. It will grip the handlebar.

I have an older Huffy, with grip shifters. The shifter (left hand) is almost impossible to shift the chain from the small sprocket to the middle or largest sprocket. The deraileur seams to be moving freely...

First, try to isolate the trouble like you have... obviously the derailieur is moviong freely. Next, I would disconnect the shifter cable from the derailieur (make sure to mark previous position of cable) Next, shift the left hand grip to see if the grip moves freely, you've already replaced the cable, soooooo, disassemble the grip and grease or replace the grip shift unit...hope this helps
