Only Center and Right Channels are working

This week I bought an open box Denon AVR-e300 from Fry's and it was sounding great in the dual channel stereo mode that they had it set up in at the store. When I took the receiver home and connected all speakers and subwoofer and started the Audyssey sound testing setup, I got sound from the front left speaker as it initiated the speaker setup but the Audyssey mic could not apparently pick up any sound or there was too much ambient noise (though the room was whisper quiet) so the setup could not continue. So I skipped the Audyssey setup and went into the receiver settings to manually do tone tests with each speaker, and that is when I noticed that only the front R, surround L, and center speakers would produce any test tones (despite the fact that the front L had no problem outputting sound during the Audyssey setup). Now, I have played all kinds of media from different inputs and changed the Dolby surround settings, but during any kind of media playback I only get either the front R or center channel to output based on which Dolby setting I choose. No more than one speaker will play at a time and its only the center or front R. I have switched the speakers around and its the same situation. Anyone experienced this or have a fix?

SOURCE: Surround speakers work in test mode but won't come on during play

Check that you set it to Pro logic and check the speaker set-up. Set it to 5.1 Sounds like somthing is in the wrong setting.

How do I add a 2 channel amp to a Denon avr 2307ci

To add a 2-channel amplifier to your Denon AVR 2307ci receiver, you can follow these general steps:
1. Determine the amplifier connection type: Check the specifications of your 2-channel amplifier and identify the available input and output options. Common connection types include RCA (analog) and speaker wire (for binding posts or terminals).
2. Identify the pre-out connections on your Denon AVR: Locate the pre-out connections on the back of your Denon AVR 2307ci receiver. These are typically labeled as "Pre Out" or "Preamp Out" and may be color-coded. You will need to find the pre-out connections for the front left and right channels.
3. Connect the RCA cables: If your amplifier has RCA inputs, use RCA cables to connect the pre-out connections of the Denon AVR to the corresponding inputs on the amplifier. Connect the left channel pre-out on the Denon to the left channel input on the amplifier, and do the same for the right channel.
4. Connect the speaker wires: If your amplifier uses speaker wire connections, connect the front left and right speaker outputs of the Denon AVR to the corresponding inputs on the amplifier using speaker wire. Make sure to observe the proper polarity (positive and negative) when connecting the wires.
5. Configure the Denon AVR settings: Access the setup menu of the Denon AVR by using the remote control or the front panel display. Navigate to the audio settings or speaker configuration section. Look for an option to enable "Preamp Mode" or "Preamp Outputs." Enable this option to ensure that the front left and right channels are redirected to the pre-out connections.
6. Set the amplifier to the correct input: If your amplifier has multiple inputs, select the input that corresponds to the connection from the Denon AVR.
7. Adjust volume and settings: After completing the connections, you may need to adjust the volume levels on both the Denon AVR and the amplifier. Use the Denon AVR as the primary volume control and adjust the amplifier's volume accordingly.
It's important to consult the user manuals for both your Denon AVR 2307ci and the 2-channel amplifier to ensure proper setup and compatibility. If you're uncertain about any specific steps or settings, it's advisable to consult the manuals or reach out to Denon customer support for assistance.

No surround back channel - damage during transport

I think your receiver has cracked main (amplifier) board close to surround back channel terminals. Need to take apart the receiver remove the board, inspect it and resolder cracked traces. Unfortunately it is not so easy to remove that board and probably you need to bring it to a repair shop.

Only sound from Direct and Stereo settings on Denon AVR 788

Other listening modes (dolby, dts, neo6) are decoded from digital signals.

Direct will relay your only your discrete analog inputs - so if you want to use your AVR as an amplifier for those channels, you'll need to supply an input signal in a different manner.

Sound cuts out

This sounds to me as an issue not with your AVR but with your cable unit. I have seen this where there is a sample rate issue with the cable boxes. I would try to get another cable box, and see if the issue persists.

Denon AVR 1803

Hello, I think that you've got a problem in the relay circutry or a logic problem. tell ya what I ve got the service manual and schematic for the reciever. the engineers at denon where ahead of there time when this company started. they designed the equipment around what they wanted the specs to be for signal to noise and discrete audio channels. each of the sound channels from the component and composite inputs is given its own bus and amplifier channels. these paths are also common to the reciever/tuner outputs. one question though you mentioned that the composite/component video paths are not switching from the input to the output youve designated, and that the monitor checks good. do you have another video source, either digital or analog that you can input throgh another channel to see if it is infact a switching problem. try that and let me know. I can give you help with the switching circutry form the schematic if need be. believe me I know It took me about a week to track down the service schematic for this unit. Denon doesn't like giving out info unless you are an authorized repair center.
