Desktop icons disappeared after installling

My husdband intalled Internet Explored 8 on his computer last night. All of the desktop icons disappeared. Shutting it off and restarting did'
nt do anything. Computer also seems frozen up. We got the home page back once using task manager but that doesn't work now either.

    Tried to do this but nothing happened still only have wallpaper showing doesn'nt appears to be any way to get a response when I use the mouse everything seems frozen up.

    We had tried to start in safe mode the computer got to loading settings and stalled.

Right click on desktop in a free area --> arrange icons by -->show desktop icons

If thats not got a tick mark next to it then click on it and press F5 to refresh the screen

    reboot and go into safe mode

    Then un install ie 8 and reboot and try again and see if that helps - what ever it was you did last was most likely what caused the issue

Try to uninstall and reinstall the display drivers. For the desktop icons, right click desktop->Arrange icons by->show desktop icons.

How do I get IE 8 icon on my desktop

Go to the installation directory. It is probably C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer.
Look for a file there called iexplore.exe.
Right click on that file.Then use the "Create ShortCut" menu pick! That creates the shortcut. Last step: just drag the shortcut to your desktop. Done!

this looks like a computer virus to me, i'll tell you what to do. first of all, internet explorer is not safe, use firefox instead which you can download for free here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
try scanning your computer with an up to date antivirus, if you don't have one, try "AVG FREE" which you can also download for free at: www.download.com.

your problem is so simple just listen see below

1.go to desktop
2. right click there
3.open arrange icon by
4.then in second last their is lock desktop icon
5. click their your prob is solved

if go to desktop right click their and click properties
then click desktop
then click customise desktop in web their is lock desktop icon put tick out from their your prob is solved enjoy
