GE Profile making knocking noises at different times

I have the GE profile Refrigerator with ice maker in the refrigerator compartment. Mine was knocking loudly for long periods of time, so I finally removed the icemaker by removing the side panel in the icemaker compartment held with 1 phillips head screw, disconnecting the electrical plug (unclip), pulling the tab of the icemaker down (on top) and sliding it toward the door, thus removing it. There was ice frozen in the motor compartment that was the problem. I let it thaw out and re-installed. All was OK after that..

Check the flanges where the ice bin/feeder meet with the drive motor in the back wall of the freezer, if the bin is not properly positioned it may start the feed motor to dispense ice. As for more ice in the bin, there is a timer adjustment on the ice maker, but fair warning, setting the timer for too short an interval will REDUCE your ice quantity, since it will try to harvest water, instead of ice

The noise comes from a small fan that lightly touches the plastic back panel of the freezer side just below the ice tray. I guess after a few years of use, the fan position has moved a little and now touches the white plastic back panel. When you open the freezer door, the fan stops and that is why the noise stops. By simply pushing the door switch (located 1foot from the top on the left) with your finger while the door is open, you can start the fan (and noise) again. If you look carefully through the ventilation slots just below the ice tray on the right while playing with the switch, you should be able to see the fan spinning. But pressing lightly on the back panel at various positions, I could find a position where the fan looses contact with the back panel while it is turning and the noise stops for a while. I have not yet had the time to open the back panel to properly reposition the fan but i know that will take care of the growling noise.
