Hi, the wireless subwoofer of my 3 year old HLB54S dvd home cinema system doesn't work properly. The LED-light on the subwoofer indicates in blue that it's connected to the main unit, however there is only muffled buzzing coming out, instead of proper sound. I have tried disconnecting it and 'remate' function, but it doesn't fix it. Any idea?

SOURCE: I have an LG TV

Hello,
There are two things that I can suggest.
1-Test your optical cables to make sure they a good on a known working source because they are very fragile and break very easily.
2-Try to eliminate the use of optical output from tv to receiver. There may be a problem from the HDMI to optical conversion at the tv. Instead, try running the audio directly from the source to the receiver, and let the tv deal with video input only.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck.

SOURCE: This system has a wireless subwoofer that doesn't

I just called LG Electronics 1-800-243-0000 and this is the solution I got from them. Unplug the main unit from the wall, Hold the ON button for 30 seconds. Plug it back in. That should do the trick. They call this procedure a "Hard System Reset". If this doesn't work, call them back and they will repair or replace accordingly.

No there is no way to replace it not unless you have it repaired by a LG Authorized Dealer/Store.

Would like to purchase a subwoofer for an LG HLB 54S Home Cinema System. Also would like the model number

It is not available as a separate purchase. It was sold as part of the set, but it is now discontinued. You MAY be able to get it direct from LG spares department by just asking to purchase the HLB 54S subwoofer unit. They must keep parts for warranty issues.

Subwoofer deconnects

I have no experience of wireless speakers but I think you should contact the seller, if the unit is still under warranty or perhaps the support section of the manufacturer's website.
Certainly do read the instrucion manual.

I am guessing but either the wireless signal is being lost (depends on the function of the blue light) or the subwoofer is malfunctioning after a few minutes and the built-in thermal or overload protection is switching it off. The thump sound could be it trying to switch on again and finding the fault is still present.

Just my thoughts...

Home Cinema Wireless Kit

It may be favorable to simply purchase a rear wireless speaker system all by itself and use the existing system for surround sound applications. Monoprice . Com has some units are a good price.

Philips DC912/37 will not pair with the subwoofer. I have had the device for 2 years, and the subwoofer stopped working recently, and now it will not pair with the tuner.

This worked for me. Try it and it should work for you all as well..;-)

Frequently asked questions See all FAQs Question How do I get the main unit to recognize the subwoofer? Answer Wireless connection will set up automatically when you switch on both the main unit and subwoofer.
Sometimes you may encounter the problem that the main unit does not recognize the subwoofer. Try the following process to solve the problem:
  • They are heavily interfered by other wireless home appliance such wireless network, TV etc. Move the subwoofer to another place, the main unit will auto detect & recognize it.
  • Switch off the main unit and the subwoofer and then switch on them again. The main unit should recognize the subwoofer automatically.
If neither of the above works, try to pair with them manually.
  1. In standby mode, press and hold the 090518075138_27245.gif button on the main unit (PAIR flashes on the display screen.) to activate signal transmitting.
  2. Press and hold the PAIR button on the rear of the subwoofer (You will find the LED indicator on the subwoofer flashes in blue and green alternatively) to activate signal receiving.
The wireless connection will set up automatically and the main unit should recognize the subwoofer now.

HTS9800 Wireless receiver not working

I have just bought one of these today and have had the exact same problem. No rear sound and no blue light on the receiver box.

Solution:
What philips don't tell you in the manual and on the support site is that the receiver box has a switch hidden under a white sticker; next to the left of the right speaker connection. The switch has 3 positions which can be selected. I had tried each switch position and power cycled the subwoofer each time until eventually i got a blue light on the receiver box.

You may also need to select the correct channel on the control box by pressing the "sound" button for 5 seconds on the remote control.

It took me quite a while to try the different combinations until it finally worked. I can't imagine that Philips would have sent the system out without testing the wireless partnership first, so I am guessing my wireless network could have had something to do with it. (forever the optimist).

I did expect the subwoofer standby light to have gone off or changed colour once operational, but this just seems to stay on no matter what state it is in.
