I would think this is a windows 8 problem. See the Win 8 forums for more info.

You may have to run it in Compatibility mode if Windows 7 webcam software is not available - I'm sure they can advise you

To navigate to CM on my logitech I rightclick the webcam shortcut icon on the desktop and click 'Properties' and then the 'Compatibility' tab.

My webcam stopped working, and i thot it was my driver but i tried installing a webcam driver but i did not work and displayed a message saying, "webcam not detected, webcam will close"

Hi sezhou1,

I see that your webcam is not detected on your laptop.

If I may ask did you reinstall a different version of Windows on your machine?

you also mentioned that you tried reinstalling the driver but to no avail, you only got an error camera not detected, that error sepcifies that the camers is non-functional or not repsonding anymore, either due to it stop from working or could be a failure on the device itself.

A device giving an error can be caused by a different instalaltion of Windows version or can be caused by corruption of drivers on the machine and the device was forced to work till the camera just siezed from working.

Most of the time replacing the device is the only option to this kind os situation, sometime reinstalling the original wersion of the windows that was pre-installed on the machine may make it work.

I hope that this can help.

Have a nice day,

Hey my webcam is not working. MY model is an MSI FX 600. For some reason, the webcam is no longer detected by Windows 7. I use the FN+F6 button to enable/disable the camera, and the picture on the bottom...

It sounds as if the drivers were uninstalled or became corrupted in some way.
The problem is that the drivers for this webcam are not downloaded separately but are native to Windows 7.

Try this solution and post back if it worked or not. If it doesn't work, I will attempt to help you further.

1. Turn on the webcam via the FN+F6 keys.

2. Press Win+R to open the Run command.

3. Type "devmgmt.msc into the dialog box and press enter to open Device Manager.

4. Find the extra "USB Composite Device" and right click on it.

5. Select "Update Driver" and click "Search automatically for updated driver software".

Windows should find the appropriate driver and install it. If it doesn't, then post back here and I will help you further.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

Webcam 1440 not working

Hi,

yup in windows7 it will really show it is ok but it still may not be the correct drivers for your devices.

In windows 7 it can detect and install a generic driver to any device, but it may not work, the best thing to do is to install the drivers of your system from the Dell website that will specific to your Inspiron Model, Trust me reinstalling all your drivers wont hurt ^_^.

INTEGRATED CAM NOT WORKING

Install the driver for windows Vista first,

1) Bring up the device manager. You do that by clicking on Start button and then type 'Device Manager' in the search box. Select the "Device Manager" in the list.
2) In the list of devices, you will see "Chicony USB 2.0 Camera" with yellow bang on it. You will see either code 19 or code 1 as error codes.
3) Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".
4) In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.
5) Then in the Action menu of Device manager, select Scan for Hardware changes option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled

Same goes for LiteOn Camera Driver.

Everything will be fine after that.
