The display shows 42 min. I can not get it to clear or start. It appears to be stuck and I'll bet you can help. I am up to my **** in laundry- sos
You can try unplugging it for at least two hours and then re-starting. Since I moved my washer starting acting up getting stuck at various points in a cycle--sometimes 19 minutes, or 12, or 33, or 3...no rhyme or reason, no specific point in the cycle. My mover is an appliance repair guy and told me to do the unplug thing and it has worked multiple times--not that I enjoy having this happen over and over, but he told me Sears would charge a minimum of 100 to show up at the door, and I don't have that right now. Anyhow, it has only worked if I left it alone at least 2 hours---my new strategy is going to be unplugging it daily...I love the washer but this is nutty.
Our Whirlpool washer is GVW9959KQ0, bought in September 2001,
in September 2010 it had the problem as follow.
When the panel was lite up, it was always set at "44" minute, NORMAL wash,
no touch area is responsive, not even STOP or START.
I could turn off the panel completely by pressing STOP and
"Whitest white" in sequence quickly.
When the panel was shut off, I could turn on the panel again
by just pressing "STOP"; But the panel was back again
to "44" minute, NORMAL wash. Unplugging the power did not help (see as follow).
That was the washer life for a couple weeks.
We left it w/o power for 24 hours, it worked again normally
just for 1 wash, and it was back again to the zombie mode;
left it again for 24 hours, no luck, left it again for 24 hours,
worked again for just one wash.
We managed to wash 3 loads during the 2-week period (just 1 wash per time).
Since the washing functionality sounds and looks working well to me,
I thought that the panel might be the culprit.
Finally we ordered Control Panel Assembly (Parts AP3884746,
it is just the panel part where we touch for washing selections
w/o electronic boards behind it) at appliancepartspros.com
(cost $177 regular S
sorry... truncated, too long :)
(cost $177 plus regular S&H, arrived in 2 business days),
as suggested by many posters in the internet who has almost
exact same problems. It works for now, just had 3 consecutive loads.
Hope it works for years to come... BTW, our drier had the same problem,
back then 4 years ago, its Panel Assemby was also replaced.
hese problems happened after we had power outage, probably power surge,
during storms.
