Samsung lnt4042hx/xxa lcd.at some point i had to wait like 20-30 minutes till it start.it makes a cycling noise in the back problably from the capacitors in the back. thank you?
Howdy,
It sounds like you have a Power Supply Board problem. The PSB is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM811, CM812, CM817 & CS806; 1000ufd 25volts. The board on left, you will see the cap tops are swollen.

Power cycle your TV by unplugging it and leaving it for a few minutes. Plug it back in and turn it on. Restore settings back to factory defaults. If everything else fails, then I would recommend pursuing repairs.
It is easy; just look for a video on you tube and with a screwdriver and some care you can fix replace the color wheel yourself. I replaced mine in fifteen minutes. Note, I had to replace my ballast prior to this so I had a little experience. Good luck.
The tv power supply board is the problems and the causes. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
I concur with Lightnbaby.... had same problem... my TV LNT4042HX/XAA took 10 min to start sometimes... the capacitors on the power supply board had bubbles on top 4 of them all 10/1000Uf. Samsung wanted to charge $220+ to have a guy come out and fix. J&J parts (samsung vendor) wanted $108 for a new board. I replaced the 4 capacitors for $4.68 and the TV works fine now!!!!!
Had this same issue on right side of 52" about 1 inch from side but had 3 vertical lines that disappeared after 40 minutes. Have Samsung LNT5265FX/XXA and about 16 months old. LCD Panel itself had to be replaced to fix it, fortunately had extended service plan
There are several capacitors that are known, in Samsung TV's that go out.. ( I replaced mine until the board was burnt through.. bought a new board, they went out again.. BOUGHT A LG TV!!) Samsung settlement warrants older TVs with faulty capacitors
