You will see two screws or so that hold the memory card together.  open the case of the memory card, The circuit board is probably slid back and not being held forward so that it inserts fully into the card reader on the PS2. Sometimes, the retianer that keep the memory Circuit board forward breaks, and you will have to use your ingenuity to figure a way to keep the circuit board pushed forward.

I'm fairly positive it wont work that way because the ps2 cannot reconize a ps3 game the same way the xbox wont recognize an xbox360 game.

Make sure when you purchase memory cards for the PS2 they are made by Sony otherwise you are getting less than quaility hardware. Sony should back thier memory card warranty and for one that is brand new it should not be going up so fast. You may want to talk to a Sony technician, there should be contact info on their website www.sony.com They may be able to replace these cards at no extra charge. Good luck.

i know what your experiencing and i had the exact same problem with my memory card a couple of weeks ago the only thing you could try if you need your memory card is just try and wiggle it around a bit if that doesn't work try and clean out your memory card slot and if that doesn't work you might have to replace it... sorry
